The 4 aircraft per base detailed in phase 3 was revised later on to 3 aircraft per base to make it viable. The pendants among us would still argue that having two aircraft at Cardiff makes it a base but it's just not a crew base. NQY is a base, but just not a crew base.

Grizzle, I think what he's saying is that CWL won't be a crew base, and with just 2 aircraft there it won't be, however it will be a base as you allude to because aircraft will technically be based there.
TartinTon is correct, nobody wants them, this is what he's getting at. Yes we need them to go but there's nowhere for them to go. I have seen the E195 deliveries for 2014, there were 10 worldwide, and that's new ones. Embraer have an order backlog of 7. The bulk of future 195 orders are for the new E195 E2, which is far more fuel efficient. You only have to look at European operators, how many 195s/175s do you see? Hardly any. Most European Embraers are the 190/170. It's no wonder we haven't offloaded them. I would imagine if they are going to go anywhere then it won't be anywhere in this half of the world. In the meantime if they can mitigate some of the grounding costs by operating them then that's only a good thing. The other question is will 2 x 195s be enough to cover the flying that was detailed on here from CWL? It looks to me like maybe a Q400 will be involved as well? I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

The online TT for all of the destinations in question seems to have been taken off line. Must be a bit embarrassing.

If the Flybe prices and seat selector cabin plans are anything to go by, the BOH base seems to be selling very very poorly. This is when compared to similar routes and dates from EXT or SOU.

Bu@&er me, I'm speechless! I will eat humble pie!
This has gone against every new policy the new management have introduced. They are setting up a base with just 2 aircraft, using equipment they have stated MUST go due to not fitting the new business model and high costs! Lives have been turned upside down recently with redundancies based on this policy and the fact these aircraft MUST go! This is a complete U turn after so much pain has been caused!
I have officially lost any remaining confidence in the new management!

BOH/SOU
A sensible approach to the BOH/SOU routes would seem to be the same as BA use for London. Take a search of flights London to Amsterdam for instance, BA offer LHR, LCY and LGW, you can fly out of one and back to another. This maximises the schedule availability and sales.
Seems obvious to me that this would be the right approach for Flybe at BOH/SOU too.

Didn't spot that - yes it looks very busy. Considering it is only a once a week service that is surprising. i.e everyone has to stay a minimum of one week.
But the others are awful.
Agree with Flitefone - they should be combining BOH & SOU on the drop-down menu so people can fly in or out of either to avail of the better pricing - but that would be too sensible for Flybe I think.

Flybe - Cardiff base June 2015
Just announced, two 195's will operate out of Cardiff serving Edinburgh, Dublin, Cork, Munich, Glasgow, Milan Malpensa, Faro and Paris (CDG).
For me, if the 195's can't be offloaded, it's better to fly them than park them, especially if somebody else (Welsh Assembly, one assumes) is subsiding the operation.
The announcement on the CWL website does refer to "surplus" 195's and I read elsewhere that it's a 10 year deal.

Given that the Welsh Govt is loaning money to Cardiff Airport which it owns in order for Cardiff Airport to "support" the Flybe operation, and without any sort of competitive tender process, it looks like State Aid to me, dressed up to try to not look like State Aid.
