Sure, but they could probably simply replace the three rows of 7 first class seats with four rows of 14 economy seats, hence my asking if Flybe is going for a low cost solution by keeping the cabin in general or investing by ripping apart the cabin completely to install their own cabin hardware.

BOH

Does anyone know why the Gla-Boh and return was cancelled today?

Most likely fog related.

I'd have thought/hoped they'd keep the business class and use them on important business routes, for example from London City? Could give them some sort of competitive advantage offering the only "real" business class from LCY, yes? no? I think so, but I don't think they will

Exactly what I suspected would happen. 7am BOH will be tactically canceled (from time to time) and pax put on SOU - indirectly assisting SOU load factors. Just hope it doesn't happen too often or customers will simply not book BOH.

BOH runway is CATIII - SOU is CATI, so if it was fog that would be a poor excuse unless pilots not trained up.

Until you know EXACTLY what you're talking about with regards to aviation, fog, visibility, CATIII, CATII, CATI approaches, crew capability, aircraft capability and airport capability etc then I rather suggest you keep your ill informed comments to yourself before you make yourself look an even bigger twit than you have already.

The METAR for BOH on the morning of 13/4 shows a minimum visibility of 6000 meters but that was at 0520.

The visibility for the arrival time of the GLA flight was 9999 and cloud base BKN026.

Even if we presume worst case scenario of crew and aircraft being only CAT I there was no weather related reason for cancelling the flight.

Being so obviously well informed CC perhaps you'd like to tell us why it was really cancelled?

perhaps someone could elucidate.

Is it, or is it not, a crime to suggest anything which might be detrimental to BEE in this thread ?

Two tier forum

Caveman makes a good point, Prune has declined significantly in the past 18 months or so. Time for Mods to enforce the probationary status. Lets have a forum where all posters earn and retain the right to the Professional title and enhance the value of the forum for all users, otherwise the grown-ups will find another site to follow. That would be a shame.

I would have thought not. However, childish bickering over why a particular flight has been cancelled is not detrimental to BEE - it's just rather pathetic.

Does it really matter? It might have been a technical issue, crewing issue, weather issue - or a combination of any of these!! Sh1t happens.

Perhaps on the Aer Lingus thread there should be an argument over why flight "a" from Dublin to Gatwick was cancelled, on a lovely sunny day when flight "b" operated to Heathrow?!

Do I really want "professional" pilots of this calibre flying me anywhere?

Certainly not dishonest ones. And I presume it matters to the person who asked the original question.

If you really must know why yesterday's afternoon BOH was cancelled my mole in Flight Ops reports it was a technical issue, nothing whatsoever to do with weather, crew or any other such wild fantasy the spotters on here savilate over...

A forum is after all a platform for free speech. Anyone can hypothesize about anything, as long as it's related. Why people get their knickers in a twist i,s yes childish to many but at the same time amusing to some.

Granted the owners/moderators of this forum may wish to do something about it but they are on interested in an active forum so that they can sell advertising space.

I did not see any "childish bickering over why a flight was cancelled". All that I saw was a question as to why the 'PFC to 'HH had been cancelled, which was replied to by LSM - who pointed out that it could not have been for weather reasons. No more, no less. Yet, he appears to be vilified for an informative piece of relevant factual information.
Judging from his previous posts, LSM has issues with BEE (which he is allowed to have), but I cannot see how anyone can get so upset with him answering a question with relevant information!
Apparently, the flight was cancelled for technical reasons. So, we have the answer to the question asked. LSM did not suggest that there was any underhand reason for the cancellation in his post about the weather.

Anyone know the estimated release date for the winter schedules.?
The schedules come out quite late - I think winter is usually released around June however it may be sooner. One would expect better bookings and load factors if the schedules were released earlier rather than later....

Flybe - Cardiff

Does anyone know if they will be recruiting for any ground positions at Cardiff, preferably something along the lines of a Duty Managers role.

I really want to get back into the airport / airline scene. I see they are recruiting for Cabin Crew but don't want to apply for that and then a ground position then comes up.

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

Flybe already have ground handlers in CWL who handle all of their flights. They will take on the new flights so the only chance of getting a job would be with the hander.

Flybe will not recruit directly for any ground positions, the only positions will be cabin crew as all of the flight deck positions have already been filled through current staff.

Thanks Irishlad
I did wonder to be honest, i guess with such a small base maybe not the need yet. I know at the larger bases such as BHX they have a few employed base managers but with only 1/2 aircraft for Cardiff i guess they won't really need it at the moment.

Any ideas of what a typical flying roster would be like for crew.
