According to the detailed performance data published by Airbus, a Trent 700 powered A332 could take off from EDI at 11,000kg less than maximum take-off weight of 233,000kg on a standard day. PVG is 4,888nm great circle distance from EDI and the prevailing winds will generally assist. That should be enough for a full pax load and a decent amount of cargo.

Several existing 'secondary' routes are getting increased frequency, eg from 1 to2 flights PW. Venice is losing a rotation, hardly surprising with Easyjet having arrived, and FR to the other airport.
The 733 has its uses, surely. Going from one 738 to two 733 gives good organic growth.

Steady but not spectacular. For the first month recently, growth is less than Glasgow, and it's certainly less than some other locations are publishing. It will be interesting to see the load factors when the CAA data come out.

But a number of comparable UK airports have reported growth of 10%+.
Also bear in mind #indyref2 is starting to unsettle economic activity and Scotland's growth rate has fallen behind the rest of the country.

Indyref2 is starting to unsettle economic activity? Really? Got any evidence for this?

It's not all bad news. Unemployment statistics for Scotland have just been announced and they're the lowest for any country of the UK and below the UK average for the first time since the oil price fell.

I suspect there are several factors. The fall in the oil-related activity may be spreading, and more to the East than the West; and present economic uncertainty may be playing a part. However the main growth in capacity has been aimed at winter sun traffic, which with the exception of ski business, is mainly aimed at the retired, like me, who are the only group who have, we are told, a sustained increase in disposable income.

Just been quoted £178 with WOW return from EDI-KEF...
Thats a bargain. FI from GLA was £258 single! Is there a lot of low cost cheap seats flooding the market to KEF? wonder what percentage is O+D. Hopefully this bubble is not due to burst.

The article coming out of china suggested it was pretty much confirmed on their side. Also aviation weekly expected the three new routes to EDI, ARN and IAH to launch in either June or July so they must have been expecting an announcement soon with the start date so close.

Came through yesterday, notable was the queue marshal in security nonchalantly directing people, while gassing to their colleague, arbitrarily between two queues, one of which took about 2 minutes before getting to the trays, the other queue turning out to be far longer and taking more than 10 minutes. Hey Ho, I presume it was convenient to somebody to do that.
But they also have new notices up there, grimly stating that anyone approaching the security x-ray who has the effrontery to have not put their liquids in the bags will be Delayed By 15 Minutes. Just whatever sort of organisation do they think they are running ? A military boot camp ?
