So Thomas Cook renegaded on the most the new routes they were supposed to launch this summer and doesn't look like Luton is in their plan for summer 2018 either!
Thomas Cook Airlines UK - 17 new routes, seven new own-brand hotels for Summer 2018 on sale
Why is Luton such a charter flight blackhole?
While Thomson/TUI maintain a decent presence at Luton, it seems places like EMA and BRS have a larger summer schedule.

Maybe their customers have the same opinion of LTN as many of the posters on this thread?
On the other hand, they may find it more profitable to offer a wide variety of destinations from a smaller number of airports. It may make it improve a/c utilisation, and make it easier to deal with any disruption.
In Scotland they only base a/c at Glasgow; the only holidays from Edinburgh use either Easyjet or BA.

Construction update
The duel carriageway is now just waiting for the top layer of tarmac to be laid after the raised drain covers were put in last week.
In the far distance (above the lorry) the new restricted access roundabout has been laid out while in the foreground the final section of ring road is now waiting to be tarmacked.
The new taxiway for 08 has now been dug out to the point where it will turn into the runway.
Work continues to build up the layers of concrete for the new stands on the south apron.
The new pier is is having its roof fitted.

This seems to show (compared to S2016):
No Adria.
6 more Air Nostrum, so presumably both destinations - Vigo and San Sebastian - served.
No Atlas Global.
Blue Air flights increased by over 33%, seats by almost 40%.
EasyJet flights up by 13%, seats by 15% to just over 5.2 million.
El Al & DHL, slight increases.
Israir flights increase from 6 to 33.
No La Compagnie.
Lipican Aer, new operator, 10 flights per week on a 33-seat aircraft. Judging by the BHX thread, this is a Slovakian operator taking over the Waterford route.
MNG, additional 70 flights.
Monarch, slight increase.
Ryanair down 21%.
Si Avia (Fly Kiss) new operator.
Sun Express, up 33% (third flight per week to Izmir)
Thomas Cook, plans superceded by events.
Thomson. Reduction of 6%.
Transavia France. Reduction by 33%.
No VLM
Vueling up 20%.
Wizz Air movements up 7.3%, seats up 11.3% - more A321s.
In summary, for the 31-week summer season, there will be 12.4 million seats available, up 826,000 on 2016.
Largest operators by seats:
1. EasyJet 5.2m (42%)

Anyone know what the 8 flights for Azerbaijin Grand Prix will be. Had 2 787 flights as well a 767 and 320. Could become a yearly thing with these flights as limited flights to Baku from London. May change by next year as BA have flown here before.

Buster, is this anything to do with your "reliable rumour" about a European Carrier moving slots from LHR to another London airport, with LTN being the likely contender?
