Could a twice weekly Stockholm service cater to city breaks and also the cruise market. A lot of the Scandinavian cruises stop at Stockholm. Many operate to Helsinki, the Baltic States and St. Petersburg.

I fly London-Arlanda every week and the Friday LON-ARN and Monday ARN-LON are always very busy.

The Stockholm flights can also cater to the football market. Fans usually fly in on Friday, match on Saturday, day out on Sunday, home on Monday.

Is this Sea Air the same outfit that were threatening to fly to Southend earlier in the year?

I believe this is the same lot as Southend.
So 2 dodgy airlines possibly coming to LTN
Sea Air
Fly Kiss Airlines
Fly kiss has had a lot of articles in the French media. The only English one I've seen so far is this
http://mobile.dudamobile.com/site/et....co.uk%2F#2865
So Blue air summer 2017
Bucharest 14 weekly
Bacau 5 weekly
Cluj Napoca 4 weekly
Iasi 5 weekly
Turin 4 weekly
Larnaca 4 weekly
So flights stand at 36 weekly
Possibly another new route for Blue Air being Constanta but this hasn't been confirmed.

Deja vu AKA The Southend fiasco. I guess they got the cold shoulder from that airport and who can blame them.

Even if Sea Air were a more established airline, I just can't understand why they think they will be able to sell tickets for a route between Luton and a summer-holiday-centric destination like Rijeka in Croatia starting in late October. Furthermore, it seems to fly 1x weekly from Luton to Rijeka, but 2x weekly form Rijeka to Luton.

Seems so bizarre, that my gut tells me there's something more to this but I just don't have the full story.

Surely the Airport is aware of what happened at Southend-God I hope somebody from the Airport reads these threads.
We lose La Compagnie and Atlasglobal and get these two instead - bargain!!

I don't get the drama. Since when was Atlas so prestigious? They fly to a place where the tourist numbers are dwindling ridiculously because of a dictator and terrorism.

As for La Compagnie, What can the airport do? They claim it is because of brexit. If the airline cant make it work then thats that.

Bit OTT to be honest, The aiport is bursting full.

Runway
Didn't say that Atlas was prestigious, simply that they were a reliable airline providing the airport with a regular link to a European city.
Losing La Compagnie is sad but Luton simply isn't gearing itself to Business class adventures with lack of Airbridges etc- leaving it to Signature and Harrods is best

The Airport won't really care where they get the passengers from as long as the figures keep going up.
Maybe a bit OTT but we shall see how many of these flights actually take place.
Many thought La Compagnie wouldn't be going after a year, they to a point were proved wrong as the company is still afloat.
Just my opinion but I won't be jumping in to book a flight with the newcomers anytime soon.

Eh I am not saying the new operators will be anything special just that the 2 that have stopped are no huge deal and neither of them have complained about the airport itself.

If Wizzair was to move for example it would be awful news, This isnt even a blip.. yeah it kind of sucks to lose the America connection but for whatever reason they dont think they can operate it any longer. I will miss the 757 but I was never going to be a customer. Certainly wouldnt catch me going to Turkey in this climate either.

You would think that the airport would dip its toe in the water and invest in at least a couple of airbridges, as it would make the airport a bit more desirable to some airlines.

Does any airline actually use the airbridges at STN? If there isn't any I can see Luton's reasoning but if there is then it is a lost opportunity.

Vueling 7964

The Vueling flight from Barcelona went around about 50 minutes ago and is still holding east of the airport. Everything else is landing so not sure what is going on with that flight.

I agree to a point, But we have all been having convos about how the airport is full and still growing without them "wasting" money on infrastructure they dont think they need. If they can get airlines without them and it saves them money not to build them it is an obvious outcome.

Like I said none that have left have fired any shots or complained about the airport.

Regarding airbridges, my understanding is that a lot of airports charge for the privilege so if there is a choice between an airbridge and a non-airbridge many airlines will choose l the latter especially the locos. I have had the experience of non-airbridge departures and arrivals at both Heathrow and Gatwick in recent years.
I would not get too upset about Atlas, you only have to look at the extra flights of Blueair and Wizz recently announced which will more than compensate for there loss.
