What Italian routes could they add? There Gatwick base already has many links to Italy and all of the ones that could sustain two services to Londpn have mostly been served. I think they could make Pisa year-round.
Palermo for the love of god. I used to have to get whatever charter carried out the flight when I was younger. From Air Uk Leisure to Sabre & Then Midland/Ryanair.. Eventually we lost it and got Trapani for a while but FR decided all their London - Italy flights have to be as far away from Bedford as possible for some reason. Most people I know have to go LTN-Catania then make a long ass drive accross the island in the heat.

Who knows whether it made money but there was never ever any seat available on PMO flights and if there were they cost an absolute fortune. I would always have a chuckle at the excess luggage though. With whats happening in Greece/Turkey/Egypt/Middle East you would think Sicily would appeal as an alternative location and get a bump up in flights.

I think FR serves Trapani, Ragusa & Palermo from STN.

Also as mentioned a connection to Cagliari/Bologna... Genoa & Bari.

Excuse my naivety runway08 but why don't your friends just drive the extra hour to STN rather than cross Sicily "in the heat" to reach Palermo? Surely that would be far easier for them...

Redevelopment weekly update

A part of Signature's new apron has opened.

Work has started today to tarmac a route to the new (temporary?) entrance.

Two sections of the covered walkway arrived on site this week and were joined together. Today two cranes are onsite so maybe it will be lifted into position today?

In the middle half of the photo and to the left of the taxi rank work has started in the former temporary home of the priority drop off and pick up area, which has moved into the short term car park. This area will contain the third core and two support columns for a further 100m section of covered walkway.

Work continues on the link to the pier.

Personal preference for myself. I live 5 mins from Luton airport I can get the bus rather than park the car at STN for a month. It avoids having to haul a tonne of luggage on the National express to Essex.. Id rather the extra hour and a bit driving on the otherside personally (if it has to be that way) viewing the sicilian scenery but alot of them are old and struggle. I can't pin exactly when it was but I think it was Monarch we used when I was a tiny kiddo 30+ yrs ago, LTN-PMO existed as long as I did. It became a routine I was sad to see go. Obviously you dont start a route because a "few people" might like it but I just can't see how it wouldnt be a success.

I remember piloting the LTN-PMO-LTN flights for ZB about 15 years ago, if a recall correctly, there was two or three flights a week, mostly late night weekend summer departures.

Fantastic. You must have had a great time watching all those boxes/bags wrapped in bin liner and tape be piled onto the plane. Memories.

A few big EZY delays today.

I haven't seen or heard anything yet but whatever it becomes you can be sure it will be yet another random number picked out of thin air just like the hangar numbering.

Daily flights with Vueling to Barcelona have now stopped and will resume on the 27th May where they will operate two daily flights.

This is a bit of a random post, but I have failed to see any photo's of the newly refurbished and enlarged executive lounge. As nothing shows on the airports website.

While I appreciate these are promotional photos, came across this lounge booking website and it looks a lovely place to be, compared to how cramped and unimpressive it was before. It looks on-par with some of the best lounges about.

Not bad. If we're talking great lounges - BA's First lounge at LHR T5 is tough to beat.

Other than those flying La Compagnie and business with El-Al, I assume to get in you have to pay - sometimes no bad thing to get away from the craziness of the departure lounge.

There are plenty of photos online of the fairly newly renovated Aspire Lounge (Executive Lounge). Google Images and TripAdvisor are good sities to look at. It looks like a very nice lounge!

Just witnessed the strangest route by Vueling VY8406 AMS-LTN flight on FR24.
It departed AMS 17 mins before EZY2164 departed AMS for LTN and went North almost to Skegness before turning south past Cambridge and arriving in LTN a good three minutes after the Easyjet flight arrived.
Presumably this was Weather related but didn't affect anybody else????
20 mins on a 55min flight

Yes, weather related (storms over Essex).

Last night the MEA Beruit to LHR flight came from the south, then went to the west of Potton, went round Bedford and dropped down into Heathrow as if it was coming from Manchester.

Some of the late evening far east flights came straight over Cambridge as well, I figured it was probably weather related.

Even the Wizz flights came straight over my house which is very rare indeed.

ITV Guernsey reporting that Blue Islands have applied to fly a Luton/Guernsey route ??? Surely this cant be right, or is it a mix up with the previously reported Aurigny application?

It states that they have applied for a licence to fly the route, hopefully it will come to fruition.

It's a totally separate application from that made by Aurigny.

Better to have one airline operating the route at hopefully a profit rather than two airlines operating the route at a loss. All that will happen is that Luton will be left with no airline if both airlines go head to head.
