Also surprised by June performance considering it was a very wet and cool month - usually the effect is last minute rush for getaways.
Re Aer Lingus, I thought it was official that this is now becoming a summer only service?
Re BOH's negative track record with keeping airlines other than Ryanair or Bucket and Spade style getaways i'm afraid it must be something to do with the access to the airport and the proximity of Southampton airport for high frequency, city break/business style routes.
The ONLY services that have a chance at Bournemouth and causing a dent at SOU are the LCC style flights of Ryanair, easyJet and others.
Full service carriers, even those regional lcc's just don't have the ability to get fares low enough to make bournemouth attractive enough for the critical mass which is required.
B'mth should be concentrating on building it's LCC portfolio and also it's relationship with Ryanair. Ryanair know that BOH is a basket case without them, and are 'playing them' as such.

Flybe
What happens to Aer Lingus next year remains to be seen. Much more interesting for BOH will be the twists and turns of Flybe and its competitors as it tries to get back into a profitable shape.
The idea of a London city airport type experience at SOU is a good one. I use LCY and LHR regularly and less so SOU and BOH. The LCY model works because there are a good number of flights on each route most days.
For SOU that's probably a workable model for the domestic trunks and Amsterdam, but Dublin will be a fight with EIR and RYR elsewhere. Paris from SOU has always been a bit erratic and doesn't compare well with the competition. i'm not sure Flybe will come out on top.
As for the new FlyBe focus on leisure routes, I expect a big fight with RYR. I also expect to see a good bit of head to head next year SOU/BOH and SOU/LGW which we all know RYR will eventually win on the coast, and EZY will win at LGW.
So most likely next summer will show decent growth for BOH over 2013, which in turn, despite June, has 2013 shown growth over 2012.
Don't forget that BOH lost a days worth of flights due French ATC strike last month, and with the change in spring bank holiday dates taken into account, it looks more like a flat month.
BOH is still doing better than most smaller UK regionals.
I shall watch with interest..

aerarran/air lingus
low numbers could be due to no advertising. There was an article a few weeks ago , in the local paper, about the U.S.A. connection but nothing now its happening. Have they canvased the local companies such as , J P Morgan, American Express? Certainly seen no ads around town or in local press! Now we have the connection you would think they would be shouting it from the rooftops! Would be awful to loose this route

Re advertising
Re advertising
There is not one bit of advertising in the arrivals hall. People collecting passengers can sit there 20-30 mins and must be a catch for advertising.
Airport magazine - what happened to this just stopped publication again.

Nakata ,
The airport has very limited ability to market itself, this is largely controlled from MAG so it's a little unfair to blame the airport itself. Despite that, it has actually survived a deep recession (remember that both filton and plymouth have gone and the airport had to make redundancies and introduce the drop off fee to cut losses) and is slowly building business again including private, training and military flights.

The airport are totally clueless when it comes to generating PR or awareness.
An airport is legally within its rights to devolve responsibility of marketing to the public entirely to the airlines that fly there. However this is not always a good business model - an airline acts in its own interest rather than in the interest of the airport. As an example, Easyjet in London advertise that people should book a flight to go on holiday - in newspaper ads they do not specifically advertise (for example) Gatwick in favour of Stansted.
Even a heavily dominant airport like Heathrow spends money on advertising to the public in London. If it wants to boost passenger numbers generally, there is very good reason for Bournemouth to advertise locally in Dorset / Hampshire as well.

Thats fantastic news !!
After a much anticipated launch last year and with winter loads averaging 44 on a 72 seater ATR 72 , its really good to see that Aer Lingus Regional are going to continue this route
The ATR 42 is far better suited for the route at the moment while they build up the route
Its slow but positive news this winter for Bournemouth now seeing Aer Lingus , Ryanair , Thomson and Easy Jet

EIR
Two new 600's arrived this week making three in total out of 8 due so that does increase the fleet short term and free up capacity for W13 and S14 is now being looked at , but good to see them sticking to BOH in the winter

How will BOH cope with so much traffic in November and the rest of winter now, could be 4-6 flights in one day!! In all seriousness it is good to see the airport slowly growing especially over the winter, and I hope we will see some further expansion of flights next summer.

It's a good problem to have!
On a more general note is the recession/depression ending? Airlines being more bullish or is this the work of the MAG/BOH commercial team?
