I agree with @apaul to an extent.
Charter is declining in off-peak, that's no doubt. Outside of summer, new scheduled routes and scheduled pax are likely to grow but the true demand for charter is exactly when it's intended - seasonal - and I expect to see charter pax up this summer.

It's very hard with airlines like Jet2 and Monarch to draw the line between scheduled and charter.
and I expect to see charter pax up this summer
However, there may be a boost to charter pax numbers as, according to this mornings papers, Tour Operators are heavily discounting hundreds of thousands of unsold holidays for July and August some by as much as 60%. If these reports are accurate, the package holiday business must be in a desperate mode.

Its quite easy really. With Monarch all ZB flights are scheduled and MON flights are charter. With Jet2 all flights are scheduled except those you cannot book flight only.

TOM214 - Glasgow to Antalya
I notice that TOM214 has turned back over the North Sea and has been circling over Doncaster for some time now.
Now diverted into MAN.
Departed MAN 22.47

Sorry I thought you were asking about Summer. The winter programme for EDI is to be operated by a B737-800. And another 738 is to be based in TFS for the winter to cover regional flying to ABZ, MME etc.

whats the point in thomson operating at all at LBA? this winter they have one route to tenerife, and summer 2012 is 1 route to corfu, as they have dropped Palma, is there any point in operating as they dont seem loyal to LBA at all?

Thomson realy need to sort out there DUB operations. Over the last few weeks it has being a joke. They have cancelled tonights ACE - DUB because the inbound aircraft is running 90 mins. The arrival in DUB tomorrow will be 14 hours late. A joke. Last year there was no trouble.
Is there problems at other bases.

Can I just correct you there. TOM like most other charter airlines do NOT cancel flights as it costs them far too much money in EU denied boarding compensation. These flights are 'delayed' and as they have 3 standby aircraft in the fleet this year I am sure that they are doing all possible to keep these 'delays' to a minimum.

I totally agree that these flights are re-scheduled for the next day rather than cancelled. If the aircraft has suffered a number of delays then i would imagine that crewing hours maybe tight this month even with standby crews.
In all fairness Thomson do their best to keep delays to a minimum and im sure we will see something change next year as according to local press there has been some major tech delays down Cardiff this year too.

I don't know if this is the right thread or not but I just wanted to say a huge thanks to all the crew on my flights to and from Tenerife from Exeter on 12/19 July.
All the cabin crew in particular Mark were great, professional and friendly as were the flightdeck who kept us informed of routing, arrival times, temp etc. I've heard bad things about Thomson but from my experience I couldn't disagree more strongly.
The food wasn't bad either!
So thanks guys and I look forward to seeing you again!

Traveling DUB - PMI today. Was to be B738 gone tech. We are now waiting for a B767 to arrive.
Didn't think that TOM would have a B767 on standby and would they not have a smaller aircraft to cover. Do they not have a B783 and B757 as well.
Which base is it coming from?
