Aer Lingus - 5
JAS look at the date of your report by Tom McEnaney

Thats no announcement,thats old news.
Bmi has plenty of cash in the bank, all 3 sections of the business is doing very well and nearly every Airline in the world wants a piece of bmi, if only for a slice of all those LHR slots.
Those that can't afford a slice want to see bmi fail because bmi are riding high. Just like a football team at the top of the league.

Yes, I know it's an old story and apologies for any confusion if anyone thought it was directly leading from the previous post or a new release.
I posted it as an interesting aside to the suggestion that there may be some tie-up/alliance/code share between the EI and BD due for announcement.
EI have kept themselves busy over the last year or so organising alliances with B6 and UA ... BD would seem an interesting choice.

[QUOTEPossibly to the cities identified as new cabin crew bases - SFO, ORD and JFK ][/quote]
The proposed crew bases are JFK and BOS. ORD was never mentioned, and SFO isnt proposed as a base. What is also proposed is that the US based crew will operate JFK-DUB-SFO-DUB-JFK with 1 night layover at each outstation.

Fuel surcharge reduced
To-day Tue 28th Nov EI has reduced its Atlantic fuel surcharge to €75 one way.
However if one books a flight from say MCO to DUB using the USA as your home the fuel surcharge is $140/€112!
The Dollar fare from MCO to DUB for 19 Mar is $434/€347.
If you book the same flight using Ireland as your home the cost is €250.
This is €97 cheaper than the fare in USD?
Strange are the ways of EI web fares.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't only Dublin-Catania, Cork-Rennes and Belfast-Lanzarote genuinely new (i.e. unannounced and not previously operated routes).
I'd swear there's an annual Aer Lingus press release about a new route to Newcastle!

Ork Ren
Correct 320, they started it many years ago with a Shorts 360 and then upgraded it to a FK50. It should do better than Jersey as Northern France is vastly more popular in recent years.

Dropped Routes
I love the way EI do this. "We're adding all these new routes because we're doing so well, we bought another new plane"
What they forgot to mention was dropping routes such as Dublin - Copenhagen. It might be just for the winter, but they've dropped routes.
Sincerely,
Shamrogue

Drove past DUB this evening, quite strange to see 2 A330s sitting on the remote ramp. Are these the 2 older models or are they all still on rotation and we just have 2 birds sitting there?

Oddly, they don't seem to be in any hurry to let passengers get full refunds/free changes (which they've done in the past in the run up to threatened strikes) this time round. Nothing on their website that I can see, and nothing in news articles.
Seems a bit bad form on this occasion as it means passengers can't make any alternative arrangements, and will be rightly up the creek if it comes to pass by EI leaving them only a day or two to make arrangements (and good luck getting through to EI on those days to make arrangements!).
Surely they can't be that desperate to hold on to people's money?

Aer Lingus always give passengers the option to change flights or get a full refund, they usually don't do this until last ditch talks are over. We are currently in those talks and if they end without agreement and the strike is confirmed expect Aer Lingus to put the options up on the website.
