IMF in town? Correct, huge unemployment? Correct again, possible mass emigration, therefore lots of flying! Every cloud has a silver lining. ALT's bets are hedged either way.

EI staff do not want to disrupt pax they want to disrupt the company.
So if the cabin crew work to rule is not causing flight disruption why does the company need to abolish these 'not effective rules' that help the crew have better quality home time. At the end of the day getting the crew to reach the productivity is the goal.

The IMF are in town. There is likely to be firesale of the Government stake. There will be over 500,000 people unemployed in 2011. €13 Billion has fled the Irish banks in recent months and the system is on the brink of collapse. Most pensions are in trouble and some will be wound up.
With that in mind, a point of differentiation and core customer service are two key aspects for any company in order to maintain a loyal repeat customer base - to sustain/maximise revenues where possible in the current environment.
Being rostered on excessive duties that lead exhaustion will/do adversely impact the passenger experience, because Cabin Crew are not able to continuously perform to their full potential.
This issue is deeper also than simply one of ''meal breaks and rosters''.

Here we go again.
More posturing by the remnants of the 'Haughey' / 'Ahern' era AL staff.
Cop on 'guys' - times have changed and you are very lucky to have jobs.
T & C's have obviously changed. If they didn't AL would be history.
I pay more to fly AL because I expect a better overall experience - even if time keeping is not as good as RA.
Please accept the fact the so called 'good ole' days of the 'Haughey' and 'Ahern' era have gone for good. RIP.

@Missterrible, you a little bitter?. You are the stereo typical Irish begrudger. Is your glass always half empty? The world keeps turning. You have a serious anti-AL hard on. Journo or Troll?, haven't worked it out yet.....
Heidelberg, it's very simple. Aer lingus pilots
Are not asking to work any less or for
More money. They are only asking to fly smarter.
They have even done the companys work for them
and have produced sample rosters.
Even you should appreciate a refreshed pilot flying you on a difficult day.

Bearcat - re days on/off.
Sorry can't agree with your conclusion because if it might 'kill anyone' the authorities worldwide would not allow.
Meanwhile -
EI582 to AGP to-day 1hr20 late departing due to one of the two deicers breaking down followed by the tug breaking down! (Like Ireland!).
Turnround at AGP is supposed to be 45 mins - took 1hr7!!! I wonder why?
Is it because crews are taking extra time to do their turnround jobs?
Incidentally is the deicing operation at DUB contracted to private operator?

Heidelburg, the "world wide authorities" lost their teeth and ability to protect you when they became self funding from their client airlines. You are looking to a safety net that does not exist, legal maximums became commercial targets and nobody but those that share your airbourne fate care. I understand your ignorance of the industry and appreciate your desire to gain an insight but your hostilty is a mistery. Don't know about the tug - maybe the tug driver the deicers and ground staff in AGP were just trying to ruin your day, they do that sometimes you know, if you're mean to them.

They are not a huge problem this time of year but as AGP isn't that busy during the winter they will have less ground handling staff working and as the aircraft arrived late they will make sure the other aircraft which are there at that time get out before the delayed flight.
Heidelberg,May you also apologise to Aer lingus pilots for slandering them with no information or proof to back up your statements. I have with regret treated you as a passenger who just wanted information from a professional pilots website.
Your further postings define you as an ass with an agenda. It's time you left.

Waffler - I take it you are an AL Captain. Please correct me if I am wrong.
My postings do not require an apology to anyone.
You obviously do not like someone asking the 'hard' questions.
Am I correct in thinking a work to rule has been in operation for some months by flight crews and/or cabin crews? If your answer is 'affirm' why?
If C. Mueller and his team did not make and take the 'hard' decisions required it is likely AL would cease to exist - and that would be a great pity for staff and AL's pax.
Incidentally I had 21 years flying on behalf of my company.
(Yes, I am a pax these days).
Whilst some of my flying was in pressurised aircraft a lot of it was not. It was 'real' flying and I had to do everything myself - it was rewarding though and very enjoyable for 99% of the time.
I do NOT have any agenda other than getting to the truth.
Of course the 'truth' is the first thing to suffer when there is a dispute between a company and it's employees. I also note the LRC may not have covered itself in glory?
Please Waffler, can we now have a reasoned response to my posts.
I did ask a few specific questions and have not got answers.
