Well Ryanair wanted a better deal or they said they would pull out, Airport said well go then so they did (thats it all broken down). Maybe with the new change in management we can see improvements but there is a lack of money availabe (hence the incomplete departure lounge).

The Spanish have spent a lot of money since they bought CWL.
Terminal expansion,new runway,fire training rig and ATC equipment all spring to mind!
Looks like the budgets in various departments are feeling the pinch now.
Catch 22,continue to spend money at Cardiff to expand and create a better business for larger turn over pax/profit

Did we have to have a fire rig that is state of the art and first of it's kind in the uk? Could that money have been spent on something else such as finishing off the departure lounge. The belts C and D which are less than a year old are constantly breaking down.
I just hope we see the check-in area and central search expanded soon and the departure lounge finished off. Before these are completed i don't think we will see a major investment by a large carrier.

Hi,
Yes,because the airport must provide a fire training rig to the size of the largest a/c operating 767.Should see Heathrows!
Also the carbon foot print is reduced.The new rig is gas burning,far cleaner to burn rather than smelly black liquid fuel.Good public relations with Rhoose.
With this new facility,various companys are looking to training at the airport which will generate money ie RAF,South Wales fire service.
Totally agree the money could have been used in the terminal,seems the law comes first here,but surely they should have planned to finish departures before they started?

Well in that case surely it should be a size of a 747 then.
We are slowly improving with New Managing director, appointment Head of Aviation Relationships, Top of the range training rig should be a money maker eventually), bi-lingual website, keeping the website up to date with news and announcements of new routes, asking frequent flyers what they want, larger immigration hall and baggage reclaim area, improved offices for engineers and apron staff, new pier with extra stands and gates.
Things that they need to look into in the near future.....

Aer Lingus
Nice to see Aer Lingus at CWL again. They have operated a few extra scheduled services when the rugby is on recently.
Would be good to see them operate CWL-DUB and offering onward connections from DUB to DXB/U.S.
BRS can offer KLM/AF/LH connections, whilst CWL only has KLM.

Sadly for CWL I doubt Aer Lingus will go in there. They struggled to compete directly with Ryan Air in BRS and think it would be business suicide for them to try and take them on in a more diluted passenger catchment area.

Couple of Questions on CWL Developments.
Doesn anyone know when the Flybe self service check-in desks will arrive at Cardiff? I heard that they are suposed to arrive ready for influx in services.
Also i have seen cones on the disused taxiway and on the GA ramp, is this ready to put fencing up for the emergency long stay car park same as S07?
What is being done to the Staff Car Park exit as it closed for a whole week as of last Monday?
What dates will the 2nd TOM 757 and the TCX A321 going to appear at CWL?
Any news on the possible new route by BmiBaby? I would have thought it would have been released by now.

The work on the end of Echo is to do with the fencing from last year temp-car park.Passing by this morning and they seem to be digging up the mountings that were put in place last year?Can only guess they are making the fence line bigger.

Do you mean making the fence bigger or are they digging up the grass to make the temp car park bigger. Saying that mind it could be making the staff car park bigger.

Cardiff flights to Barcelona
Airline bmibaby today announced a brand new route from Cardiff International Airport to Barcelona.
The new route will start on May 24 with a two times a week service operating on Tuesday and Saturday. From June 18 the service will increase to three times a week, with an additional service on Wednesday.

BMI Baby
I jotted down the whole baby schedule for summer (sad I know) a
month or so ago and I am sure Cardiff had only one or two gaps
but looking tonight BCN slips in no problem on Tue & Wed.
Tuesday
Aircraft 1 - PMI/JER/FAO
Aircraft 2 - ALC/???/GLA - 1410 - 1940 slot for BCN
Aircraft 3 - EDI/AGP/EDI/BFS

Well theres an obvious gap provided with the Tue GDN not operating and therefore leaving and a/c available for a 7am departure. Be interesting to see the timings of these flights

So when will we get the 4th? Or is it just the normal 'we're committed to CWL' claptrap?
