So whats to replace the rest of the weeks flights? Or will this be the cull that will guarantee only 3 a/c and no W patterns?
Services to Almeria will commence on 22 May 2009 and flights will operate on Monday and Friday
we will be replacing two of our city routes - Amsterdam and Glasgow - with the new route to Almeria.

On looking closely into the schedule on the website it was a possibility that the schedule was due to change with Domestic flight going on back of the internationals as happened S08.
I wonder if we are to see another route showing on these days or possibly an increase in frequency of an existing summer route.
Hopefully this will be a good move for Baby but i am shocked that it's the AMS has gone and not the BFS.
With a bit of luck this should help fill the Dash8 of flybe and increase the passengers on the KLM.
On worst case scenario passengers will go to BRS in order to use Easyjet.

If they can make more money on Almeria than they can on GLA then i believe especially in the current climate it is a good decision to make.
Isn't a new destinaton on the boards @ CWL something to be happy about? There is currently too much capacity on the GLA to compete with demand and i believe that WW will be happier with this new route and flybe get a chance to fill their aircraft.

Ski flights, Sofia et al (not)
The Sofia flight doesn't seem to be operating. CAA stats for December (latest available) show no CWL Bulgaria flights and I've not seen the flight appearing on the arrivals board.
CWL did have a weekly ski flight to Plovdiv in 2006 and in 2007 which I believe was shared with another airport, possibly BFS. In 2006 1879 passengers flew from/to CWL on it and the following year 2588. It did not operate last winter and is not operating this winter.
BRS also had a Plovdiv that operated last winter and in previous winters but it has been axed this winter. In rough terms it carried about twice the number of passengers than the CWL operation in both 2006 and 2007 but that may be explained by it not being a joint flight with another airport. BRS currently has two flights to Sofia on Sats, one TOM and one BGH.
On the broader front there does appear on the face of things to be a disproportion in flights serving the ski market from BRS and CWL.
BRS has 14 weekly ski charters (Chambery x3, Salzburg x2, Sofia x2, Grenoble, Geneva, Verona, Innsbruck, Turin, Toulouse and Kittila). Nine of these are TOM flights, using a combination of former FCA 757 and 320 aircraft, and Thomsonfly B 733.
In addition there are flights each day by easyJet to Geneva (including 5 on Sats and more than single daily on a number of other days), Innsbruck, Grenoble and Toulouse, and Ryanair flights to Grenoble and Turin.
There are over forty ski flights (charter and scheduled) each week from BRS whereas the CWL total is no more than about ten, if that.

Loganair and Flybe launch new Cardiff to Aberdeen route.
Loganair announced today that it is launching a new route between Cardiff and Aberdeen as part of a wider expansion plan that will benefit business and leisure travellers.
In a joint announcement with franchise partner Flybe, Scotland's airline will introduce the first ever non-stop flights between Cardiff and Aberdeen on April 19.
Daily flights will operate between the two destinations, except Saturday, and these will cater for both business and leisure travellers, as well as offering a convenient connection for those living in Wales and working in Scotland's off-shore industry.
As the first non-stop service between the two cities, passengers flying from Cardiff will also be able to connect through to other Loganair destinations at Aberdeen, such as Sumburgh in the Shetland Islands.
David Harrison, Chief Executive of Loganair, said: "We are delighted to announce the new service between Aberdeen and Cardiff. Our research has identified strong demand for these flights.
"We're confident that our competitive fares, starting at £44.99 one-way including all taxes, will prove highly attractive to both business and leisure travellers who have, up to now, been forced to make difficult journeys at high prices to travel between the two cities."
He added: "At Loganair we are constantly seeking to improve our service and, with Flybe, today's announcement is another step towards ensuring our passengers get the quality service they have come to expect from Scotland's airline at a competitive price."
Steve Hodgetts, director of business development at Cardiff International Airport, said: "We welcome Loganair to Cardiff and look forward to the start of the Aberdeen service, which has proved to be a highly desired destination from Cardiff.
"We'd like to thank all those business travellers who completed our 'you would if you could' travel survey last year as the evidence showing Aberdeen as the most travelled to destination not served from the capital helped convince Loganair to launch this new service.
"I would urge more business travellers to visit the site - www.youwouldifyoucould.co.uk - and complete the two minute survey, which could help substantially reduce journey time to other destinations in the future and also open the region to a number of new business opportunities."
Flights will leave Cardiff at 15:15, arriving in Aberdeen at 17:00 and depart Aberdeen at 13:00, arriving in Cardiff at 14:45. Prices on the new route will start from £44.99 one-way including all taxes, fees and charges.

Excellent news of the new route. I hope it will be a great success.
Some more good news. I read in one of local papers last weekend, that Carnival Cruise Lines will be operating 10 flights next winter to Caribbean destinations for cruise ship passengers. Seven flights to Barbados, 2 to Jamaica and one to Mexico were mentioned. I know there have been some cruise flights this winter but this would seem to be an increase in flights.

Grit spreading
Noted pax taking the green run out of arrivals, the more hardened tried the black run chute adjacent to taxi-hub, who needs to go to France for ski-ing fun.
But wait, the high-powered snow blasting team arrive...armed with a green bucket on top of an old golf caddy..one pull of the lever, and hey presto, grit dispersal even the highway agency would be jealous of...

Howcome CWL didnt profit from BRS closure today.
I know that their outbounds didnt go anywhere in the first place but what about their inbounds - CO from Newark as an example and I am sure that there were others eg WOW flights?
