Ryanair?

I'm seeing, on here, and elsewhere, rumours of a Ryan base up at Yeadon, what does anyone know?

I think it is rumours at the moment. I haven't seen any evidence but rumours suggest a base of at least four 737-800's at LBA either for summer 2008 or Winter 2008.

If, and its a big 'if', Ryanair or Easyjet decided to set up shop at LBA, where do people think they would serve? Obviously apart from DUB and SNN. Jet2 do have a massive presence in the West Yorks conurbation in terms of advertising, brand recognition etc. Would Ryan/Easy take them on at their routes? I've got my own ideas but wondered what other people think...

Hopefully some destinations away from the traditional bucket and spade routes that Jet2 seem to favour.I think people today are more adventurous in their travel plans.

I have flown from LBA with Jet2 to Amsterdam and Prague and Alicante, but in the last couple of years have flown from LPL to Riga(Ryanair),and Doncaster to Gdansk(Wizz) in order to try somewhere a little different.

If I could get a flight from LBA with Ryanair to somewhere in Poland that I can't even pronounce for a few pence,I'd be off!

heard today that all the employees at LBA are being screwed by the new owners with terms and conditions, after being screwed by the councils who sold the airport to Bridgepoint, i bet they are really off now

Try Avignon, La Rochelle, Krakow or Pisa on Jet2.

If you're really adventurous, how's about Islamabad with Shaheen Air?

Thanks but I think I'll pass on that(Islamabad),too hot for me!.I only have to get a brief glimpse of the sun,and I come back looking like the elephant man!.

Fair play,I haven't been to any of those Jet2 destinations, but I don't think their prices would entice me to go there.

I did notice that I could get flights to Shannon from LBA for a penny each way with Ryanair, but admit I haven't got the faintest idea what there is there apart from the airport!.

Hi

Just noticed that Ryanair have been messing around with the Shannon scheduled for the summer season and added a 4th weekly rotation.

Flights will Arrive LBA at 07:35 and depart LBA at 08:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

This was totally predictable given JP's record at NCL. What you guys need to watch is that a certain greedy b doesn't attempt to award himself a fat pay cheque on the back of it.

LBA has run on a shoe string for years now and with the same loyal workforce, i wonder how many of those can take much more? Still it could keep Jet2 busy by bringing in new staff from Poland!

Diversions

Looking at tha LBIA website,it appears todays windy conditions have caused some cancellations/diversions to Doncaster,Liverpool,Humberside,Liverpool and Manchester.

Its damn windy in my street, god knows what its like up there at the airport.I know we can't help the weather, but I feel sorry for those travelling today that have been inconvenienced.

It also appears LBA is to follow the likes of LPL,by introducing fast track security for a fee,any thoughts?

The wind has been dreadful today, I'm not surprised ops have been affected.

I don't think paid for Fast Track is the way to go, but I hope the existing Fast Track won't be replaced as it is a very valuable commodity to those who are eligible to use it for free currently.

Nobody uses it for free. It's added to the price of your flight. Eastern, bmi business class etc have all paid in advance to use the service. The new service will allow Ryanair and other airlines passengers to use it. It's your choice if you want to pay to use it, so why not?

Because I get to use it for free whenever I fly by virtue of my bmi Gold card

Can confirm flights are affected by the wind I am sat at Heathrow waiting for a flight, should have been on the BD418 which is cancelled, my options at the moment seem to be go to Manchester or wait, they doubt the BD420 will operate so I can chance waiting for the 2200 flight, what to do!!!! Talking to the passenger agents though today has been a nightmare with delays and cancellations all over the place.
