IKEA....seriously
Spent 4 1/2 hours (including lunch) in IKEA last week with my wife, so I'm in no hurry to return.

Any cafes within the terminal that have a decent view? I'll be flying into BHD and then, a couple hours' later, out of BHD, so I won't have a car.

Cheers.

Yea, would way rather stand outside Ikea virtually at the the end of the runway than in that viewing gallery of the airport. No parking fees, cheaper and better food, but unfortunately no seats outside Ikea.

Haven't been at sunny Aldergrove in a while now, does anyone know if there is a new viewing gallery there yet? I knew it was closed a while back for refurbishment but don't know if it opened again?

In response to YOUR question yes there is a cafe upstairs in the terminal with tables beside the window looking out over the mid-section of the apron and airfield. Come out of arrivals and to your right will be the escalator.

Enjoy

Re: BHD-NCL

Never been a particularly busy route (30-40 pax not remotely unusual), but obviously works. Times are occassionally tinkered with, but with 2 rotations a day through the week against EZY's 3 rotations, it doesn't necessarily suit everyone.

Winter can be very quiet, and EZY suffer as badly as BE - remember dispatching a mid-week EZY rotation in mid Jan with only 30 punters.

The viewing gallery at BFS reopened about a year ago but with no difference. I think the refurbishment was elsewhere and simply necessitated the closure of the gallery temporarily.

Drove by RAF Aldergrove a month or so ago, saw on the airport side of the road a large newly built B&B/hotel, I think it was called Killead Lodge. I thought if there was a cafe or bar in there you would have a nice view, as I think there is a clear view of the whole eastern end of the runway and towards the terminal. There seemed to be about 3 floors on this complex as I whizzed by-it seemed quite big.

Actually it appears that Killead Lodge, from their website, its on the opposite side of the road and is like a house. But there was a complex on the airport side outside the checkpoint to the RAF and round a slight bend with a sign outside it and I read it as Killead .....it had 3 storey's- maybe somebody can advise me

Sorry, i saw this on uk airport news a while back and its weird

Emergency landing for Zoom Glasgow flight in Canada

14.06.08

A Zoom flight from Glasgow Airport carrying 140 passengers made an emergency landing in Toronto yesterday. The plane landed successfully at Pearson International Airport on Friday afternoon after sending a distress signal about a blown tire, local police said.

Fire, police and ambulance units were waiting at the staging section of the busy Toronto airport for the plane, arriving from Glasgow Airport. The Boeing 747 landed at 12:45 local time (17.45 UK time). No injuries were reported.

Zoom airlines operates low-fare flights between Canada, the United States, the UK and Paris.

It says its a 747 and a while back, a person i know went on zoom BFS to toronto and told me it was a jumbo jet. i thought they just thought it was big but they said it was definatly a jumbo. does this mean that zoom may have been using other 747's to fly into belfast. As far as i know, they only operate 767's and 757's.

Ei49 Agp-bfs

Did Aer Lingus have a tech aircraft in BFS today? The EI49 coming back from AGP is a 757-200. Who is operating the sub charter for them?

There was a Titan 757 in about 2030ish, I was wondering who that was for??? Jet2??

I Have heard that the loads on AGP, FAO are very strong with EI of late.

Zoom ceased operations

Belfast International Airport :: News

From Belfast International airport website. A very sad day indeed, and think this could potentially hit BFS hard, removing the only direct link to Vancouver and now only Skyservice 757 to Toronto (FlyGlobespan to Hamilton also I guess).

Statement said that operations ceased at 18.30, not sure if that was Canadian time, but did the delayed Vancouver flight from BFS operate tonight, think it was delayed until 18.30. If so those passengers, at least those returning to Canada, will be thanking their lucky stars!!

Zoom
Flight to Vancouver did not operate as the aircraft was grounded in CWL as it could not get fuel or should i say could not pay for fuel.Passengers told at approx 1815 in BFS that the flight would not be operating, about 120 due to travel.Sad day as they did very well at BFS.
