On a Sat night there must be 3 BD's operating at BFS as the Verona arrived in around 21.00 and there are 2 Palma arrivals both BD just after midnight. There are 2 BD's off to Faro tomorrow morning. (or maybe the boards at BFS are duplicating flights, however they are given different flight numbers and times). Does anybody know if there are to be 2 BD's based throughout the coming week to tie over the 12th period and for how long. I think last night there were 15 min aircraft parked over night. BFS must be at maximum capacity for parking now. Surely for any more traffic major expansion is required or traffic will go elsewhere!!

2 BD flights because there isn't enough room on the A320 it seems. An E145 is doing these second flights. I think if they had their usual 321 there would'nt be two flights.

Is Berlin normally operated by a SXF or BFS based aircraft?

Berlin usually operated by a BFS based aircraft.
Think the Saturday flight up to the 31st May was a SXF based unit, and then changed on 7th June to BFS, along with all the other SXF flights.

If its normally operated by a BFS based aircraft, surprising it is not on sale with the other BFS operated routes. Unless it is axed ...

easy

I have had a quick run through the booking engine and
Monday, Wednesday & Friday show five based aircraft
with no gaps.

SXF would fit easily Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday evening.

Could the 6th based be an early departure to LGW which
comes back at night?

EZY

Seats from London Luton and London Gatwick this winter will be available from 14 July.
From airport website, no mention of Berlin...

Bmibaby now also on sale for the winter.
Would appear that frequencies are remaining the same with x3 day to Manchester, Birmingham and East Midlands, ex weekend. Cardiff moving from 1 to 2 a day, with good times for a day return.

Not so long ago either last summer or winter, the Berlin flights seemed to originate from Berlin as the flight arrived in around 0800.

ROUTES AXED

Story in Tuesday's Irish News says Berlin has been axed from Belfast due to low demand. The paper also runs over the other routes that have been dropped in the last two weeks.

Katowice (Wizzair) - dropped from this month
Barcelona and Blackpool (Jet2.com) - suspended for the winter
Paris (flybe) - dropped from this month

and also includes

Gdansk (easyJet) - dropped earlier this year
Budapest (Aer Lingus) -dropped this summer... after only a few months
Geneva (Aer Lingus) - not returning this winter

That looks to be all the casualties for the mo...

Would it not be a good idea if LS shifted their BFS/BCN operation to Gerona. It would be handier for the Costa Brava, giving them a niche market, as Gerona is the furthest north airport in Spain that one can fly to from Belfast. The Costa Brava is certainly a popular holiday destination but as of yet not served by a low cost carrier. It is also closer to the pyrenes for skiing in winter.

While it may be good for the BFS operation, I doubt Jet 2 would want to move their LBA flights from BCN which would mean a split operation that could increase costs

As per the BBC News at 5pm, so far BFS has accepted 7 flights from diverted from DUB due to ATC systems failure...

Anyone know what flights / aircraft came our way? And any more to come?

One's i know of where a Futura Gael from Salzburg, FCA from Reus, 4 EI's each from AMS, CDG, Dubrovnik and Warsaw. First three were 320s and a 321 was on the Warsaw. And a RYR738 from Gothenburg diverted into BHD.

Not strictly an issue for this forum, but local nonetheless...

Breaking news from Farnborough that Bombardier have officially launched the C series with an order for 30 (with 30 options) from Lufthansa. Wings to be designed and manufactured in Belfast...creating 800 jobs. No word yet on additional airframe work that may come our way, but getting the wing has to be a big win...

The LAS flights only operate for a couple of weeks at Easter and for a month or so around June/July. Operated by Thomas Cook Airlines
