So does this mean that Belfast will get a fourth airbus or is it to be achieved by cutting existing routes? There is an aircraft due in June and there has been no major expansion of services announced from Cork or Dublin. I would have thought it was a bit early for going up to four, but who knows...
I very much doubt it. I presume Malaga and Faro will probably be reduced/axed for the winter. Rome will also probably be reduced, and I heard that Amsterdam is still performing very poorly so that could perhaps be axed. I don't think theres any chance of a fourth airbus unless all the current routes start performing well.

I think it's Amsterdam, Barcelona and possibly Rome at risk. Others seem to be doing reasonably well.

Easyjet early Departure to Gatwick

Does anybody know if the 0630 to Gatwick is operated by a 737 or is there a nigthstop A319? If it is a 737, that would be the only 737 EZY into Gatwick.

It is an A319. Drops into aldy at bout 2220, and nightstops. I believe the only LON airports that see aldy based 737s are LTN and STN.

Booked my first trip to the US with Continental today...what sort of service do they offer on the 757 to Newark? I've heard there is no seat-back IFE, just overheads...is that right? Anyone any comments on the service?

Correct ....no seat back tv...mixed service in Y ...sometimes good sometimes average ALWAYS full They need to have something more roomy than a 757 for that crossing.

Co Ife

NWSRG

At least 14 of CO's 41 757's have AVOD in economy and it might be more.

Do a search on www.airliners.net aviation forum by putting in something
like CO 757 IFE or AVOD and you should find at least one thread. The US enthusiasts are obsessed with IFE and you will even find the registrations
of the ones already done.

Apparently it takes about two weeks in the maintenance shop so there
is no chance that they will all be done by summer as they are not going in consecutively. Most are being done in facility in Florida as I understand it but I think the odd one has been done in Houston.

To be fair the threads are quite good as one of the "posters" is on the line or at least he or she gives that impression.

BFS might get alot of the domestic 752s as the flight is short which means the a/c can be deployed easily with a TATL and a domestic within 24 hours.

I know MAN gets alot of the a/c with the IFE thank goodness.

I prefere the 752 from DL - excellent a/c! Glad they operate the 752 on the JFK route and not the 763 - hate it! No IFE does my head in!

What about the comfort factor? Heard that the CO 752s can be a bit cramped...

CO

eastern wiseguy

They definitely have some with AVOD's but unsure if they go on certain
routes, as MUFC_fan has said Manchester has had them so has BHX. If
I get time tomorrow I will dig out the a.net threads and check acarsd to see which routes they do the most.

Tail 130 was the first to be done but that it is about all I can remember.

NWSRG

I have flown BA BHX-JFK-BHX on the 757 with a 16/156 config and I was in economy. Even as a short**** it was a bit cramped after six hours 30 and no sleep but not as painful as listening to the yank behind me whinge about the screaming kid kicking his seat from behind during the hour wait on the JFK taxi-way . It was a full flight but still nice to be home within 30 minutes after landing. That was overheads and the film back was Tin Cup which made it twice as painful .

Regards

Pete

Co 757

NWSRG

quote taken from a.net dated 14/3/08, 102 has gone in since and a couple
of others I believe. In later posts it said approximately half of the fleet will be done by July. To me it makes a difference as I am not into reading on flights and it certainly helped to while away the hours to DXB on EK.

If the fleet numbers below correspond to the registration then March
saw about 8 or 9 and 3 so far this month. This is not far off a one in three
chance and it could be 1 in 2 by July if half the fleet is finished .

Aircraft 109, a Boeing 757-200, reentered service Thursday after being fully retrofitted with the new AVOD (audio video on demand) and an in-seat power system.

The AVOD and in-seat power are now in both coach and BusinessFirst. This is the 11th 757-200 to have the new inflight entertainment system installed, and joins aircraft 104, 105, 106, 107, 110, 112, 113, 114, 130 and 140.

thanks

thanks, I was just on BMI's site and noticed that they say they have cabin crew based in Belfast. Is this correct? and if so are there flight deck crew based in Belfast? Cant imagine how this would be the case unless they get to operate to different locations after the arrive at Heathrow from Belfast

NWSR, I flew Conti around this time last year and the legroom for me (6ft tall) wasn't great.

On the outbound leg it is bearable because it is a daytime flight but on the return it is a hateful journey, I would even go as far to say that Conti offer even less legroom than the older EI A333's.

Service is ok. I had a bit of a barney with a FA on the internal flight from MCO-EWR because she told me blatant lies and was totally unhelpful. It was great seeing her squirm when I told her she was tell me fibs! Luckily I found the Int'l crew quite pleasant.

Bring an inflatable u-shaped travel pillow for the return journey.

Edit: Conti ship 107 was in Belfast yesterday 19/4 so it looks like luck of the draw with regard to the AVOD system. Yesterday's was the only one this week to be fitted with the system, as per the list published earlier in this thread.
