Well my version of Ba.com has Belfast on that drop-down list, I can't offer any explanation on why yours doesn't. I think you will also find, when you do find belfast, that you can't book Bfs - Lhr on its own, just Bfs - to wherever via Lhr. I have priced both Lax and Sin on Ba.com from Bfs and the results showed the Ei flights from Bfs to Lhr. I have a feeling that the codeshare doesn't apply from 14 Jan , it may be the start of the S08 timetable that it kicks in, but not sure.

BA/IE BFS Codeshare

Thanks TrueBlue and Eastern Wiseguy

You are right, the codeshares are offered only as part of an international connection. Though the booking engine still seems keen to offer a connection via MAN! (Until Mar08 anyway)

All we need now is the rumoured 4th daily rotation.

4th daily rotation is happening from end of March, but the early morning BFS-LHR at 0740 will stop, and there'll be a later flight at 2130. What's the sense in this? Apart from the reason that you maybe found a cheap enough fare on this flight, who is going to travel on this flight as there is no more flights to connect to?

bearing in mind where the aircraft and the slots for this service are coming from, i think that you'll find that this is the exact rotation/slot usage of the current shannon operation.
aircraft overnights in heathrow for the winter, and in shannon....soon to be bfs, in the summer. first shannon flight in the winter is 0740, in the summer its 0850
this has always seemed like a strange time in the evening for a flight, probably more to do with the use it or lose it scenario with lhr slots, than with passenger needs.

Early morning BFS/LHR, EI have stressed publicly their interest in introducing this asap, competitive edge over BD and to allow passengers to make full use of BA connections.

It's to do with aircraft positioning as much as use it or lose it..

The problem Aer Lingus have is that they only have three early morning slots in the summer. Currently, these are assigned two to Dublin and one to Cork. At one point, they were planning on moving the Cork slot to Belfast and giving Cork the later Belfast one. After a bit of campaigning by the chamber of commerce, because it's Cork's only early service to London, this plan was dropped. It was a bit quieter than the Shannon lobby, but apparently more effective.

One solution might be to move a Dublin slot to Belfast and see if between transatlantic flights they can squeeze an A330 rotation to Heathrow to keep the early capacity. That is purely speculation on my part; there could be problems with the gate infrastructure in Heathrow that prevent that from happening. However, I know KLM put on a widebody on their early flight from Amsterdam to Heathrow.

you might be on to something there, but maybe not until the reshuffle to LHR-T3 in 2008?

Has EI ever put a 330 on the LHR, at Christmas or for some other peak event? Given the gates they usually use at LHR and the 330's huge wingspan it would seem like a tight fit especially for a peak flight when the adjacent gates are likely to be occupied.

Yes EI Have used A330 at Christmas at peak times

They also use it if flights have been cancelled, or after strikes, etc etc etc to clear PAX backlog

Last winter when the fog caused chaos at Heathrow, Aer Lingus used an A330-200 to pick up passengers on cancelled flights. The A330 parked on stands near Terminal 3. I think these stands will soon be used as a part of T5.

I saw from the Bhd website that the Jy974 ex lgw is being diverted to bfs, coaches due at bhd 23.15. Last night the airport stayed open for the Bd at 23.10. two questions

1. Is the rules applied to all airlines evenly?
2. What is the relationship like between Jy and Bhd?

From an outside point of view, it seems more effort is made to help Fr and Bd.

Yup! G-FBEB diverted to BFS for the second time this week due to a caution button for the flaps.

Noticed an Air India plane sitting on the tarmac at BFS last night (Saturday).

Anybody know what it's doing here?

Bmi Baby BFS-EMA

Hi All,
Does anyone know how the loads are on BFS EMA since the arrival of Ryanair at BHD. I was at BFS on Thursday night and saw what seemed like a very small load getting on to the EMA late flight. All of the other flights going out had very good loads so Wondered about EMA. And CWL does anyone know how much of an impact has Flybe had since it commenced BHD CWL?

On a lighter note, I flew down to STN from BHD with FR yesterday. Took off at 0632. Aircraft did not leave the terminal until 0628. Pilot came on and said that they were prevented from taking off pre 0630. So they are keeping to the rules as the aircraft was full boarded and closed at 0615.

The flights were great, load going out was big but coming back I would say that there was no more than 110. Have to say I fly Ryanair frequently and have only once had a bad experience and that was a delay which was completely beyond there contol.

BHD to get its first non seasonal continental scheduled flights, with BE going non-stop to CDG from March 08. I wonder if it will be twice daily and what aircraft would they use.
