fog in derry - could be more according to the Derry website.

Interesting they dont go into BHD as commerically you would think they get cheaper landing rates there now!

Hmmmm. 3500M visibility and 300FT cloud base. Hardly fog. Is this still below limits?

FLight must be ferrying onto Derry about now to do the return to Prestwick as Ryanair site says expected in Glasgow about 17:30 due to delay caused by fog in Derry!

Short flight that BFS - LDY - guess by the time buses were organised for pax, plane will overtake them on Glenshane!

BHD hyper extension

Not quite sure if this is thread creep but why are we discussing the extension of BHD when clearly the time has come to close it.

The management of BHD have seen the reason d’etre of travellers using the airport evaporate as Flybe, having joined the race to the bottom have quickly shown an aptitude for alienating their regular customers.

So with business travellers no longer prepared to pay the perceived premium for flying from BHD, why should the airport be allowed to continue let alone be extended?

Previously the covenant between the local community and the airport was one were it was needed for NI plc. Its proximity to the city centre enabled time conscious business people to make the most of their busy schedules – its ease of use made us a little bit closer to the commercial hubs across the water.

The increasing noise and fuel pollution was tolerated because BHD made a difference.

No longer – you queue 45 minutes to check in and another 45 to get through security. I gather with Ryanair you need to arrive the night before to have a chance of cashing in on your tuppence worth.

BHD’s customers are voting with their feet, choosing to fly from BFS.

The response of the BHD management shows complete contempt for their long suffering neighbours.

Why should the people of Sydenham have their quality of life eroded and their property increasingly blighted by flights that entice existing customers of BFS to use BHD to the benefit of nobody other than the shareholders of BHD and Ryanair.

Ryanair could well be the straw that breaks the camel’s back – mines a Harp Laurence.

Provisional caa stats out for Oct 07

1. BE gaining on the LGW with a 9% rise, EZY remain at the same, no change over same period last year
2. BHD/STN massive 21% rise, BFS/STN 2% rise.
3. BFS/LTN 3% rise, BHD/LHR the same

Overall London Belfast traffic substantial rise over the last year. Nov will be very interesting to see if EZY/WW drop significantly with the arrival of FR. 2 routes which seem to be poor performers LCY/BHD 2000, LCY/Dundee 886.

p.s. Forgot to mention 5% rise overall compared to same period last year at BHD. Now that would be the first real rise there for sometime. I wonder if it was all down to FR, however they only operated for a couple of days towards the end of the month.

Whoops you are correct. Although I think it only operates on 4 days a week which may reflect on the low numbers

IIRC the BE LGW route dropped by a similar percentage last year? I wonder what the reasoning behind that shift is. Very interesting stats all round actualy...

I wonder what the reasoning behind that shift is

Did BE operate 5 rotations a day in October (which was introduced early summer), if so maybe that would explain the shift. They seemed to have dropped down to 4 for the winter.

Could it have anything to do with the E195's?? I know its a strange theory but there was a lot of media coverage when they started and people tend to prefer new aircraft.

Then again, when was the E195 placed on this route?

Flybe have only been using the E195 from the start of the winter timetable at BHD. Two now based. And yes there were five rotations during the summer. I think a mid-morning dash8 service (BEE967/968).

Close, 5 days, has never operated on a Saturday and Tuesday was dropped a while back, therefore operated on 22 days of October.

P'raps in Devon.....but none that I remember in NI. I am sure my learned colleagues will correct me.

Gate 22
BHD/STN massive 21% rise
How much of that could be down to TWO carriers on the route...one with cheap lead in fares and Air Berlin with older bookings?

Read an article head lining the NI travel news publication. Basically EI were teasing bmi about how successful they are going to be,etc. Well thats all very well, but when you go into the booking machine with EI and check the seat plan on their first ever flight out to LHR in January its the same ghosted (booked seats) that have been like that for months. ie only about 10% of the seats are booked (the same applies to their first AMS flight out 10 Dec). Either this pre-booking seat plan is not accurate or the bookings are poor.

The seat plan is completely inaccurate. EI charge passengers €3 to choose their seat at the time of booking, but if you check in online you can do it for free so most people don't choose the seat until they check inonline. The seat plan only shows those people who have chosen their seat (i.e those who have paid the €3 to do so). This is not a representation of the numbers of seats sold.

2 MYT out to Las Palmas this morning (at least one must be specially charted is the other a normal brochure charter). Of course we have the normal LS to LPA (hope thats the correct code)and then I think there is an extra LS either tomorrow or Wed, but with 4500 NI fans heading out there must be a large number of extra chartered aircraft over the coming days. Although I suppose some will connect through other UK airports or Dublin.

BA/IE Codeshare Where?

Trueblue,

excuse if being stupid, but I can't find any evidence of the BA codeshare for BFS-LHR.

In fact on BA.COM at present you can no longer select departure airport by airport code, you have to pick from a pull-down list.
