its just my opinion.... we dont live in Japan, so theres the difference... most Asian countries are very well disciplined compared to the rest of the world..

i go through BFS checkpoints 4/5 days a week and BHD usually once or twice a month... and i see no difference in attitude, altho no doubt during summer things get a bit hairy when staff struggle and passengers keep walking through with a jewellery shop on them

the way some people complain about BFS's security, it makes me wonder if they would survive going through security in the US..

BFS-IOM must be profitable less Manx2 wouldn't be flying the route. They have reduced their BHD schedules and increased BFS so they must be doing OK.

BE have come along but they seem to be holding their own. In fact, on the BLK route, Manx2 has better loads than ever and they have BE against them - who are also doing well!

BLK loads are never great but there are a number of people using it via NHS as they go to Blackpool hospital for specialist treatment not available in NI.

Again, they must be doing OK as they have come back to it...

Manx2 At Bfs

Manx2 have been a bit of a dark horse since they started operations at BFS. I think most people gave them 6 months and here we are nearly 3 years later, still going strong.
I think the secret is that they keep their operating costs very low. They don't own any of the a/c in their fleet which belong and are operated by small european carriers in Manx2 colours on their behalf. It's almost like a franchise agreement.
All a/c are 19 seaters which avoids the need for cabin crew - due to aviation regulations, which cuts costs even further.
They seem to have found a winning formula, just not in such a grand scale as the likes of Easyjet or Ryanair.

They also avoid the £10 fee to the government which means up to £170 per flight cheaper than BE or any other operator it competes with.

TCX Monastir

Would appear that the TCX 837K is not operated by the BFS based aircraft. Is the aircraft that operates Monastir still an A320?

Yes this flight is still operated by an A320. It is operated by a Bristol based aircraft.

Hope this helps

Death Fear in Plane 'near miss'

BBC NEWS | Northern Ireland | Death fear in plane 'near miss'

Sensational media reporting in the wake of the Air France tragedy, or a possible serious incident?? Any idea on the aircraft?? Monday afternoon/evening from Turkey could've been OHY, TOM or TCX.

havnt heard anything myself on that incident

EZY aircraft issues in last 2 days

G-EZJT has been tech for 2 days now parked on stand 21 (was supposed to position out to LTN empty yesterday at 1400)
G-EZJV went tech (stand 12) this morning just before passengers started boarding (problem with engine 2) all bags offloaded and moved to G-EZKA on stand 26... G-EZJV was then repaired and took out the BFS-FAO flight on-time with the aid of an airstart

crews must be getting headaches now, becoming a daily occurance with the A/C that appear at BFS

Scot Travel Holidays ceased trading today. They had a season long, weekly flight from Belfast - Dalaman using Saga. Sad news....

From their website:
We regret to inform you that as from 4th June 2009 ScotTravel Holidays has ceased trading. All travel enquiries should be directed to the CAA. For immediate departures it is inadvisable for passengers to make their way to the airport without the advice of the CAA.

Many thanks for everyone's replies on BHD. Took the advice and after my meeting hopped on the old Tourist Bus for an hour or so

Found the 600 Airport Bus to be excellent, my meeting was in the Europa Hotel so couldn't have stopped in a better place.

BHD itself I wasn't too impressed with. The queue for security was horrendously long, I waited for about 30 minutes just to get to the scanners and then another 10 getting through them. I was then was practically strip searched, even US airports I've gone through were not as thorough! They also seemed to use the same security officer checking laptops that was getting the queue moving so everyone had to wait whilst laptop's were checked which took a long time. I grabbed myself a jacket potato in the airside bar which came to a stonking £5.90 and a little bottle of Mangers was going for £4.50!

Still it's location is its best asset having previously used the International

I'd probably say BHD but its lack of facilities mean I'd be stuck with the mediocre lounge are a downside and I can't risk leaving it late due to the security queues, it wasn't a fantastic first impression of BHD but thats things.

HOWEVER, since I generally when in the UK fly out of NCL then it means I can use FlyBe which is preferable for me personally to Easyjet the flight can be as short as 35 minutes.

At the end of the day I generally visit Belfast for business thus the location of BHD makes it a clear winner

DBK429 Knock 10:20
Air Dubrovnik arriving at BFS tomorrow from Knock. I would think that it is routing Dubrovnik/Knock/Belfast/Dubrovnik
This must be replacing the same route that came via Shannon last year?

Not sure if there has been a flight operating Knock/Belfast before (or is this the start of it? I realise no pax on this sector ie flying from Knock -BFS)

The Air Dubrovnik flight is operating to Split in Croatia.

Chartered by Concorde Travel a Republic based tour operator. Seems however that the flight operates June - September from Knock, however tomorrow is their only BFS departure to Split. They also have a one off departure to Dubrovnik on the 20th June, using the season long Jet2 service. (Depending on website accuracy).

Croatia Tours who chartered the flights to Dubrovnik summer 2008 via Shannon, have a few sporadic dates over the summer to Dubrovnik using the Jet2 direct service also, and then on 4th October using Air Dubrovnik. (Again dependant on website accuracy).
