Quick look at the EI winter flights currently on sale, timetable seems to be:

Aircraft 1 operating daily:
07.40 - 09.15 LHR 10.05 - 11.25
12.50 - 14.15 LHR 15.10 - 16.30
17.25 - 18.50 LHR 19.45 - 21.05

Aircraft 2 operating Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun:
06.45 - 11.00 ACE 11.45 - 16.10
16.50 - 20.55 AGP 21.35 - 23.50

Aircraft 2 operating Tues, Thurs and Sat:
06.40 - 10.05 MUC 10.45 - 12.25
14.40 - 19.10 TFS 19.55 - 00.20

Will BFS be down to 2 based units?, hopefully not. EZY must be quite content to have seen EI off the AMS, CDG, NCE, GVA and BCN routes. Only competing on AGP come the winter, unless the third aircraft stays with possibly BCN staying and other routes to be announced???

suasdaguna, tell that to the EI engineer who spent around 2 hours working at the nose gear... something to do with the shocks (im no a/c expert, but im guessing shocks = shock absorbers...) i didnt say the nose gear was bent? like i said, repairs were made on stand and then the a/c was sent on its way, when it returned to nightstop at BFS further work was carried out

but i guess i dont know anything, even though i was there when the a/c left, and returned that night

with reguards to the number of a/c at BFS over winter it should still be 3 as they now swap the LHR A/C around during mid-day, for example... BCN-BFS-LHR and LHR-BFS-CDG

as for FCO, its picked up this summer, tonights flight had around 140 passengers, still a few empty seats but still not bad

and BELHold, that seems to be the consensus (spelling) of what happened, although i have heard nothing else since the day of the incident

TOM516 Miami International 05:50

Cool tomorrow morning, it then goes off to Newcastle. Is this carrying Belfast passengers, I never saw it advertised, or is it a refueling stop for Newcastle.

Think its a cruise charter, from MIA today

TOM 516 departing 5.17pm bound for BFS
TOM 428 departing 4.57pm bound for Manchester
TOM 672 departing 5.52pm bound for Gatwick

Thomsonfly (or whatever they're calling themselves these days, bring back good old Britannia) don't regularly operate into MIA, except for these cruise charters. Maybe P&O???

No mention on MIA departure board regarding Newcastle, so maybe positioning to NCL after dropping off the passengers at Belfast, or potentially shared capacity.

CAA March 09 stats

I see from the March 09 stats that BD had a 11% decline on Bhd - Lhr, about 6k pax, Ei has a 1% increase, about 1k pax. This in spite of several postings that Ei had a very bad month to Lhr. Easter was also in March last year, which makes the Ei result ever better, as many are using the fact that Easter is later this year as a major reason as to why March results were poor.

I`d say as a major factor is simply the cost. I`ll soon be a customer from London to one of our fine local airports and for my dates Aer Lingus are almost half the price of anyone else, so I may even land somewhere near a Lough in the peaceful Antrim countryside. However another factor may be that last years EI figures were so bad that a 1% increase would be hard to avoid?
To be completely honest which Airline I use and which Airport I choose will have less to do with the ticket price, as we are only talking about fifty quid, and more to do with which hire car company offers me the better deal. Now that`s a reason that never occurred to me when I live under the blue skies of Ulster.

The Miami flights happen annualy if i remember correctly as do Barbados flights for P&O cruises too...

Yeah, looking forward to catching up 290! I could do with a bit of radar practice as I haven`t done any since I left. Maybe they`ll let me do a few hours MER to keep my licence valid for an extra year or maybe they won`t even let me through gate one!! I`ll try smuggle you in some yoghurt.

I hear you guys have been getting a bit of piece and quiet in the Tower lately, long long overdue, if they`d done the right thing ten years ago what a different place it would have been!!

Are TOM operating all winter to TFS, or just over Christmas again?
It would appear that Falcon Holidays/TUI are operating winter sun to Lanzarote and Tenerife season long, but using the already operating TCX flights.

First Choice/Thomson long-haul went on sale today for summer 2010, Belfast are not getting any long-haul destinations.

What about Toronto this summer, I haven't done any research, apart from a weekly Flyglobespan, what other operators do we have. Was a strong market at the start of last summer.

As far as I can see GSM are the only operator to Canada this season, out of curiosity does anyone know what the TOM schedule is looking like and is BFS getting a SSV Airbus to operate it

If this is the case surely EI could get the foot in the door. Or will they wait until several other carriers jump on the market!!!!
Are there no air transat weekly charters, (if that is the correct recent name).

There are rumours of big cuts in Aer Lingus's long haul operation as losses mount due to the global downturn. Dublin-Washington, Dublin-San Francisco and Shannon-Chicago are all rumoured to be facing the axe as management attempt to make the longhaul operation profitable again. I think it is very unlikely that Aer Lingus would launch longhaul from BFS in the current climate, especially not to Canada where Aer Lingus do not currently operate to. There will be 12 flights per week from Dublin to Toronto this summer operated by Air Canada, Air Transat and Flyglobespan, as well as the Flyglobespan service to Calgary and Vancouver so if there is a shortage of capacity from Belfast, passengers can fly from Dublin. Considering how far from Toronto that Hamilton airport is (where Flyglobespan fly to), it may even be quicker for Belfast passengers to travel from Dublin and fly into Toronto-Pearson with Air Canada or Air Transat.

well i see the domestic arrivals hall is getting a face lift, all the tiles are now lifted , hopefully this is the start of a major re-fit ..

Monday - Dalaman 07.00 - 17.15 - Bourgas 18.55 - 04.00
Tuesday - Palma 06.10 - 12.50 - Palma 14.55 - 21.35
Wednesday - Reus 08.25 - 22.30 (operates W flight I assume)
Thurday - Palma 06.30 - 13.10 - Arrecife 14.40 - 23.50
Friday - Naples 06.45 - 14.10 - Tenerife 15.55 - 01.45
Saturday - Palma 06.30 - 13.10 - Las Palmas 14.40 - 00.20
Sunday - Malaga 06.00 - 13.15 - Bodrum 14.40 - 00.40

No, Globespan who was the major operator and used AirTransat, now obviously use FlyGlobespan, as do American Holidays. Last year Canadian Affair operated from BFS but pulled out for summer 09, and as we know Zoom met a sorry end. This could be the first year in a long time that BFS has no direct link with Pearson. Certainly room for another operator to Toronto, huge capacity decrease especially as FlyGlobespan only operating weekly from 3rd June to 23rd September.

I would be very suprised if another operator didnt jump in because I was suprised at the demand for the route, one stage last may, the next 2 flights were completely booked up and there were little seats left on the next few-Zoom that is.

Thanks BFS101..I believe the SSV Airbus arrives from MAN on the 30th.

With regard YYZ demand..could this have been an opportunity for CO to increase density on the EWR route utilizing onward connection?

Seems a bit strange that only a couple of years ago we had pretty good loads on 2 x TS A310, 1 x OOM 767 via CWL and a SSV 757 weekly...where did all the punters go?
