after a significant increase in the number of complaints this year, the mood on the Council is hardening in favour of even stiffer restrictions.
More misinformation from catflaps, I assume you can prove both of those?

Quote (The fact there is sea on three sides will stir up the old 'that is why there is such a small catchment area' argument.)
I know little about catchment area's for passenger flights.
All I know is that mse is in a good spot for cargo, it's well liked in the trade, they get the stuff off and away with very little delay.
If the airport was to handle very large amounts perhaps investment would be required, I know little about it's infrastructure.
I have only visited Ramsgate once, sailed in and what I saw I liked.

Catflaps, I have been looking for a quality rest. in Thanet to use with clients for years. can you give me a few pointers? Citrus in broadstairs has great food but no atmosphere, posillipos is a regular haunt for me the food is exceptional but it is a bistro and lacks tablecloths, cutlery and decent glasses, but i have yet to find a quality establishment. i would appreciate the help. Thanks

I would agree with Catflaps, that if there is a valid S106 agreement in force then it has to be obeyed by whoever owns the airport. What I haven't done is check whether there is a valid S106 in the first place.
Irrespective the airport owner would be wise to try and keep in with the local authority and provide reasonable information they request particularly if the owner already has it!
The real question I have is if the airport is dead on its feet and has no traffic why have the complaints gone up so much? Surely you need flights to generate the complaints?

Details of cargo flights have been posted recently; I see no need to ask more questions. Details of new airlines are not known until they are known (very Rumsfeldian), as Infratil, understandably, keep these matters confidential.
I wouldn't ask any advice from MAG members on fine dining; they don't seem to enjoy life much. A treat for them is a fishpaste sandwich, quickly consumed before they go in to scrutiny committee.
Might I suggest Morton's Fork in Minster, and Bon Appetit in Ramsgate?

Restaurants, yes i believe MAG members get out and about in the finest of establishments that are plentiful in Ramsgate.
Surin (harbour street) for Thai style highly recommended, but book.
Myles for that extra special dinner for two or company reps who's company is footing the bill.
Fish there is always the restaurant next to the Royal Oak .
The Belgian Bar For something completely different? Don't let the look of the place turn you off it. Foods good, i see it arrive fresh everyday (no i
do not own it or have any interest in it)
I would recommend some places in London but i dont think the MSE supporters club could stomach the bill?

Forget the posh places.
Get yourself to the Artillery on Westcliff road Ramsgate (real ale pub of the year) - Drink yourself senseless, then hot foot to Peters Fish Factory and eat chips on the beach while giggling drunkenly at the sea........

Chips with a pinch of salt.
euroairport
You must not take this thread too seriously. We have people who aver that the air port is dead on its feet and that there is no activity, followed by others who state that there are loads of complaints caused by the constant activity. Add to that the historical stuff about unburnt fuel particles falling all over Ramsgate and constant low flying aircraft looming over the esplanade.
We now have someone who advises us to sit on the beach and eat chips whilst being showered with pollution and bombarded with constant noise and disturbance. If that is not a measure of how amusing this thread can be, I don't know what is?
Now, if you really want to know what a noisy airport sounded like you, should go back to when I was a kid cycling around Manston when the Yanks were there. That was really fun.

Air Atlanta Icelandic signs Damp Lease Agreement with MK Airlines
Air Atlanta Icelandic has signed a “damp lease” agreement with MK Airlines in the UK.
The Agreement is a short term agreement which has almost immediate effect and terminates in the end of January 2008. The Agreement is a new approach in Air Atlanta Icelandic’s leasing terms as it only calls for the provision of the Aircraft and Maintenance Planning (an “AM” agreement as opposed to an “ACMI”1 agreement). All crews and line maintenance will be provided by MK Airlines as well as insurance. According to Air Atlanta Icelandic’s Sales & Marketing Department “the aircraft had not been planned into wet lease production due to the already heavy burden on the production departments preparing crews and line mechanics for the Hajj and Cargo Peak Season. Therefore this seemed like a perfect opportunity to capitalize on MK’s sudden requirement” a spokesman said. The Aircraft in question, TF-ARW, will remain on Icelandic registry but will be placed on MK's AOC2 during the lease term.
In recent months Air Atlanta Icelandic has been diversifying its business by offering a variation of the ACMI (wet leasing) service by offering alternative services limited to the “A part”, “CMI part” or “AM part” only.

Not quite 70 yet, I'll own to 65.
The Yanks were at Manston from around 1950 - 1958. The most you had to watch out for was the odd F84 or F86 falling on your head. They fly like a brick after the wick in the engine goes out.
The worst noise was from the Albatross amphibians, you could hear those twin radials from miles away. Actually watched one hauled up on one of the WW1 slipways, at what used to be RNAS Westgate-on-sea, after it was holed by floating debris a few miles out to sea.

Restaurants
Thanks for the list of venues. I use most of these places regularly and the food is fine and ambience is fun, but I could not call any of these quality establishments. I am afriad that (only in my opinion), you have to travel out of Thanet to find top notch places. Reeds and Eastwell Manor are probably the nearest.

Ryanair
Many thanks i heard otherwise! Just another MSE rumour then?
Of more importance is the question of night flights issues in previous posts. Night flights are tied in with the 106 agreement and there is no night flight policy. The situation is that the owners must submit one 6 months before instigating any night flights. Hopefully that clears that one up? Can we expect one to appear in next years masterplan though?
