Manston USAF
catflaps
Not quite 70 yet, I'll own to 65.
The Yanks were at Manston from around 1950 - 1958. The most you had to watch out for was the odd F84 or F86 falling on your head. They fly like a brick after the wick in the engine goes out.
The worst noise was from the Albatross amphibians, you could hear those twin radials from miles away. Actually watched one hauled up on one of the WW1 slipways, at what used to be RNAS Westgate-on-sea, after it was holed by floating debris a few miles out to sea.
