WIZZ in LTN
I called in to LTN yesterday morning, in a G450, and was very surprised to see so many WIZZ.
Is their business that good, or was I just luck, to see so many.
Almost more than the Sleezi Jets.

Blue Air Chooses London Luton
From Luton web site -
Published: 30 April 2009
London Luton Airport is delighted to announce the arrival of Blue Air with flights to Bacau, Romania. Another new airline for the Airport and more choice for passengers.
Commencing 01 June 2009, the Romanian based airline will further expand the London Luton Airport route network into Romania with twice weekly services to/from Bacau Airport. Offering low fares and flying a Boeing 737 jet aircraft, Blue Air expects the London Luton flights to be a resounding success. Flights are on sale now and can be booked at Blue Air.
Bacau is known as one of the most beautiful cities in Romania, situated at the heart of the historical region of Moldavia, at the foothills of the Carpathians and on the Bistrita river, Bacau - also called "the city of Bacovia".
Simon Harley, Airline Manager, London Luton Airport, said, "We are delighted to announce the arrival of Blue Air at the Airport. Low fares flying continues to make business and leisure travel increasingly accessible to millions of Europeans and the launch of this new service to Bacau provides yet more choice for our passengers.'

Can any one confirm that the drop off fee of £1 has started, the Airport web site is as helpful as T**s on a bull.
I know it was planned to start, but l can not find out if it did start.

EGLF has several problems. Before I go on, great facilities, friendly staff etc.
Big one. Restricted access on the weekend to non "resident" aircraft. This is great for the "locals" but not so good for every one else. Seriously noise affected with the neighbours.
Category of airspace. From a meeting I had last year with the London airspace folks it will not be "joined" up with the London TMA. Therefore, there will be a transition departing and arriving that you'll be in uncontrolled airspace.
From a personal perspective. No decent crew hotels at a reasonable price within 15 min drive.
Personally, give me Luton any day. (Then again, it is my gateway)

I had a close look at the drop off zone today and can confirm that no work has yet started on new barriers or any infrastructure associated with the barriers. Can't see it now going live until at least June at the earliest.

No restriction of the type you mentioned at Farnborough now. Following the last review by HM Govt, the restrictions around the weekend were lifted, but movements overall were not increased, so it is up to TAG how they divvy out the slots, but as the overall movement rate there has dropped significantly this year, there should be plenty of weekend slots available.
Previous to this, based operators got first call on the weekend slots.
Aviator hotel is rather nice with a stunning view over the airport from one of the bars!

From the Newcastle Airport website - they seem quite proud of it!
Don't forget...it's only £1 to park your car for 20 minutes in our Pick Up & Drop Off car park!!

Buster, Bars; no better view than from 'The Swan Inn' both cost you though unless you are on expense's.
Redsnail, there are some superb local EGLF B&B's which will treat you like 5* guests but you have to know them......
Luton, I think still benefits from 24 x 7 which EGLF will never get.

EL AL
Everything seemed to go very well this morning. Check-in was spread over several hours so queue times were quite short. Passengers queued to enter the segregated check-in desks 1-5, normally occupied by Ryanair. Before they could check-in their details were checked first by 5 people standing behind 5 portable desks that had been wheeled into poison side on to desk 5. Two armed policemen stood guard close to the queue.
There were several ELAL officials having their photos taken and all in all seemed to be quite happy with what was taking place.
The 767 landed at 10.48 and had a follow me vehicle escort the aircraft to the north apron parking opposite the former flying club.
