Wonder what, if anything, the airport intends to do about those people who park up in the drop off area for more than 10 minutes? As we all know if they sit in their cars they can park in the drop off area all day. Just try doing that at Stansted, Heathrow or Gatwick.

Well we know traffic warden patrols do not feature highly in the airport's thinking. If the drop-off zone must be where it is now located, then surely the reversal of the fig 8 for entry/exit(as now rumoured) to improve traffic flow, with a 10/15 mins(MAX), free waiting time in the zone. ANPR slaps a fine on you if you overstay, or return within 30 mins.

El Al Flights

Two of the flights have been operated by series 300 aircraft; the rest by 200 series. I believe it's a 200 today.

Is easyjet running a full programme from Luton, as there always seems to be 3 737's parked up on the hangar line?

Of course not, aka well publicised boardroom battle & general downturn........better than the proposals for more STN routes going to LGW though!

From what I could make out there were more EZY flights operating from STN this summer than from LTN.

How may daily rotations are there from both airports and number of aircraft based?

I wasn't thinking about the summer programme, more the winter program. I was told EZY might move up to 4 airframes to LGW from STN. No mention about any reduction in LTN based airframes. Don't think it is set in stone yet though, the battle about reduced/deferred deliveries needs resolving first.

Sky Europe

Just flew to VIE with Easy-Good Flight almost full ,so dont understand why they are dropping the route next winter.
At VIE were 2x Sky Europe 737s next to us.I cant remember the last time i saw them in LTN,just seems to be wet lease a/c.
So does anybody know how many of their own a/c are still flying and do they visit LTN from time to time?

Anybody from Easy reading this, please talk your planners into MUC or FRA or anywhere in southern Germany with flights from LTN.
Think the last time was Debonair.

I don't think Sky have used one of their own 737s into Luton for about three months now. I do know that they have recently taken delivery of at least one 737-300, taken out of storage in the US which is presumably in their colours.
I wonder if they fear sending a liveried aircraft into Luton in case it gets impounded!

Word on the scene about the new airline BWAA in the ex-Silverjet terminal;
  • Work has begun in the lounge and is expected to be completed in the next few months.
  • BWAA have purchased all of the airports old trolleys, and are now donating them to third world countries. (Not the usual for a start up airline, plenty of disposable income then!)
  • Plans for A/C to be multi class rather than business-class only, and different check in locations for these classes. (e.g. Economy = LLA Terminal, First = SJ Terminal)

@ LGS6753

1st ex-United B733 delivered and indeed in full colours.
Skyliner - aviation news & more

They do not send own aircraft to LTN (neither to MAN). I quess they still remember the day when they had 2 of their a/c impounded in MAN.

Thats because good old easyJet have favoured LGW over LTN as per usual! The route only started a short while ago, but they have already decided to increase it to twice daily from the winter. So it seems they have decided to shift all capacity away from LTN.

It annoys me how easyJet seems to completely move a whole route away from passengers north of London and now have a 1.5-2hr journey if they still want to fly on this route. Not everyone in the London area and home counties happens to live South of the Thames!

It makes me wonder if it is a matter of time if other routes like Istanbul and Athens for example, where further capacity is transferred to LGW.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Back earlier this year, SkyEurope did have a huge number of their 737-700's repossessed by GE leasing and the only ones remaining are ones through another leasing company which is about 4 in total. GE was not interesting in renegotiating the deal with the airline.

Probably is true they afraid of sending their own metal to the UK incase repossessed. But their owners an American investment company did secure some additional financing so hopefully they maybe coming out the other side now.

Maybe they could pick the VIE route if they are still operating to LTN by the winter.

It's not just Easyjet that has an aversion to North London Airports, just look at the TUI group. This year they have 2 aircraft based at Stansted, 3 aircraft based at Luton and 15 aircraft based at Gatwick including 4 wide bodied 767’s

Might well explain the conversation I had with a contractor who was working at Luton the other day who lives in Buckingham. He said it was his first trip to Luton in years as he could only get a package holiday from Gatwick and Birmingham in recent years.

Are you sure that people are actually working on the conversion of the old Silverjet lounge on behalf of BWAA. Things are not always what they seem...

Relatively the same thing, yes I believe that BWAA have appointed a contractor to do the renovation for them.

Out of interest, on 31 May, there appears to be a second inbound El Al flight from TLV, arriving LTN at 2115, operated by a 757. The usual, mid-morning 767 operates as normal.
