EGLF has several problems. Before I go on, great facilities, friendly staff etc.
Big one. Restricted access on the weekend to non "resident" aircraft. This is great for the "locals" but not so good for every one else. Seriously noise affected with the neighbours.
Category of airspace. From a meeting I had last year with the London airspace folks it will not be "joined" up with the London TMA. Therefore, there will be a transition departing and arriving that you'll be in uncontrolled airspace.
From a personal perspective. No decent crew hotels at a reasonable price within 15 min drive.
Personally, give me Luton any day. (Then again, it is my gateway)
