it would appear that the new limoges route is at the expense of biarritz

so ryanair up to their old tricks of just moving routes around, no actual expansion

But it has already been reported here that there are no spare stands on the south apron overnight.

A somewhat childish observation LTNMan!.....You know what I was alluding to in that post!

Anyway the new FBO is reported to be Ocean Sky using just one stand on the South Apron!

Anyone know exactly how much capacity has been cut from the Luton easyJet timetable this winter compared to last? To me, there are huge unannounced cuts on some routes? Is this base fleet type originated (737 to 319), or cuts to meet the 'alleged' slackening demand?

I heard Ocean Sky?

Luton is now officially the busiest airport in the Wizz network this winter. Deparures total 91 weekly, up from 79 in Feb 08. It has overtaken Katowice to take first place, Weekly departures will increase to about 130 with the start of the summer timetable. Not bad considering not a single aircraft is based at the airport. Makes ryan look "small fry".

SkyEurope

SkyEurope's financial position took another turn for the worst today and had another 737-700 repossessed by the leasing company. They are now down to a fleet of four aircraft!

Im not sure how their LTN operations are going, but across their network there has been a lot of cancellations and wet-leased flights operated by airlines like Dubrovnik Airlines and Bulgaria Air. Might add for a bit of interesting metal arriving at LTN!

They are however advertising on their homepage that LTN-BTS has now operating 3 x daily and LTN-PRG 2x daily! I am unable to find this in their schedule however!

I bet Wizzair will snap these routes in a flash if SkyEurope does vanish, but lets hope not!

Data showed an average of 24.2 night movements (2300 – 0600 hrs) were scheduled per night but on average there were an additional 3.6 movements making a total of 27.8

You're not suggesting that the introductory discount and subsidy from one airport has now run it's two year course and that, amazingly, ANOTHER airport is now offerring FR an introductory discount and subsidy???

Whatever the story, I take my hat off to FR, they are such a smart bunch of operators.

EZY Winter 08/09

Hello Buster,

Your instincts looks as though they are spot on. According to the November stats, EZY movements at LTN were down by 21% from an average of 113 per day last November to 89 per day in Nov 08. The biggest reductions were on AMS, NCE, SXF, LIS, BCN, AGP, BSL, GVA, ZRH and ABZ.

FR and W6 both managed a small increase in flights from LTN.

I thought the airport authority forced Harrods to move so the airport could claim back the south stands. Now Harrods find that Ocean Sky have been given their old prime location while Harrods have to make do with a boxed in Apron.

While total passengers increased by 2.5% and passenger traffic movements increased by 2.7% total aircraft movements have reduced by 2.5%, due to a reduction in General Aviation activity so it could be lean times for all FBO's with a three way split.

21% BLIMEY! That is a huge reduction and not well publicised! Anything to do with the change from a Boeing base to an Airbus?
