Jersey, is this a 'W' from Liverpool, or a based airframe?

When does Luton commence the change into Airbus?

Jersey appears to be operated by a LTN based airframe, not a W from LPL. Also, it seems to be bookable from 30 March 08, about 3 weeks earlier than originally announced.

Wasn't Aug 08 mentioned somewhere, as the start of the change to airbus ?

I thought LPL was operated on a W pattern with a BFS 73G, and LTN was operated by a LTN based 319 (well what will be a LTN 319 when they get them).

Angel Types and dates?

To answer a couple of questions.
Liverpool-Jersey-Liverpool will be operated by a B737.
Luton-Jersey-Luton will be operated by an Airbus.
The start date for the Luton service was the 21st of April when it was annonced in the local media down in Jersey, so has things changed there and the start date been brought forward?

A nice new Airbus will be very nice - A note that it looks like no Rimini/Rijeka/Turin, also no Istanbul as yet (but that is allways late). Grenoble is winter only and Ibiza is back again as a night rotation for the summer.

Seems like easyJet are at there old tricks again at LTN... No further capacity again seems to be added, and the new routes come at the expense of other routes! LTN these days, definately seems to be the poor persons cousin to EZY@LGW and FR@STN!

Even though the Apron is pretty full over night, and not much room for additional aircrafts night stopping. easyJet and Ryanair seem very relectant to add any further capacity, whatsoever - surely there must be some room for some expansion. Surely they could add routes from their other European bases or "W" flight to LTN.

Despite EMA having 5x FR 738's based there, they still manage to get a number of routes flown by aircraft from other bases.

I was hoping to use the Rijeka service this summer, I notice it is not bookable from Bristol either. It looks like Split has replaced Rijeka from there... Looks like will have to use the weekly Thomsonfly service to Pula.

I have just booked a relative to Jersey in June with easyJet. £38 all inclusive return! I doubt if you could get a peak return rail fare inc underground to London from the Parkway for this? £38 is around 8 gallons of petrol for my car....What excellent value this return flight is!

Trivia, what was the tower frequency in 1981? I still have it marked on my Sharp Airband radio!

Vintage and Mr Bust must not answer!

So with the end of the year now in sight what has happened to the second version of the great master plan? There certainly doesn’t seem to be any hurry in releasing the details.
Well the airport website was stating "before the end of the year". That seems to have now changed and the latest comment from the same website states "Revised proposals will be published in due course".

Says it all really........2010 maybe ?

Luton Tower freq

My guess is 120.2. At some point it changed to 119.975, until someone realised it was similar to Heathrow approach if my fading memory serves me right.

PowerJet 1 - They're still waiting for the clowns in the Town Hall to decide whether or not to do a deal with ACDL/LLAO or simply see LTN put into 'care & maintenance' until 2014.

Not sure Heathrow had anything to do with the change from 119.975 - think interference (from somewhere else) was the reason for 132.550.

It has been a while since I read headlines like these. Is this the first signs of a stagnation in the Lo-Co market (Stansted being the leader)?

CAA stats show a decent increase in Nov pax figs, up 7.7% to 685k. However, because of the initial fall in pax in Jan & Feb, it looks as if the magic 10m pax for the year, is likely to be short by about 220k. The full calendar year is likely to finish at about 9.78m.

BLIMEY!

Stansted in decline and Luton on the rise, when did this last occur?

No wonder Stansted has found 'new' capacity for Biz Jets! Maybe the BAA have discovered Luton's hidden money making secret? Millions of passengers do not always equate to huge profits from the Lo-Co's!

5 million passengers making you £3 clear profit per head, or 10 million making you £1.50?

I have been banging on for years, passenger figures are no guage of long term success, profit however, is!

Stansted has to be open and visible with its fees, no wonder then that they have risen, so is it a wonder also that the passenger figures have risen at Luton and Ryanair have stagnated growth in Essex?

New Airline from Luton to Bangladesh

This news is about a week old now, but not seen it posted anywhere...

http://www.thedailystar.net/story.php?nid=14358

There is a new UK based Start-Up airline called Air Sylhet that claims they will be offering services from Luton to Dhaka and Sylhet in Bangladesh. Also seen mentioned they will also offer services to Islamabad too. The servies will be flown by 767 and operate via Sharjah in the UAE.

Things look pretty advanced and have a website - http://www.airsylhetonline.com/index.php and are currently seeking funding on the AIM stockmarket.

They also have further plans in the furture to operate services to Saudia Arabia and to operate out of Birmingham and Manchester. It looks like now the European LCC market is well developed, Luton may now have a key roll in the UK-Asia LCC market.

Lets hope this come to fruitition...

Any news on Shaheen Air? As they are mean't to be flying between LTN and Pakistan with A310s from next February and tickets are currently been sold through travel agents

Air Sylhet
Giles D

Strange. The article certainly names LTN in the text but the booking engine dropdown only lists BHX, LHR, MAN. Journalistic error maybe ?

Shaheen Air has LBA listed from 7 Feb. Maybe LTN to follow, although originally 5 Feb was meant to be the start date for LTN.

Could be a change of plans and neither of the above will happen now, as far as LTN is concerned.
