That's going to have a huge impact! Breachwood Green is where they can stay! They'll go no media coverage; the town is concentrating on the torch relay and the Love Luton festival that starts today.

These people don't even know they're born. The airfield has been in use since the 1930s, so they've moved to the area in that time. They know there's an airport there! Do you expect them not to use it and/or not grow their business?!

These residents have got lucky, because it could've easily been a full length 3,000m runway and heavy long range aircraft coming in under previous proposals. The new plan has the best of both worlds.

7 years ago I moved to South Luton. When I purchased the house the former owner stated the house was not affected by aircraft noise-

I found myself experiencing growth in passenger levels and aircraft movements.

This morning at 12.30am I was awoken by a fully laden Airbus A300 climbing out above my home. Last week I had a DC8 and 737-200 classic with their engines leaving trails.

On the late morning of June 22nd I observed 2 x A300, 1 X 767-300 and the EL AL 777 as they passed over me.

It's living where I do that I fulfilled a dream, to not just over-look an airport but equally be under it's flight path.

But going back to my first point, the house seller stating you could not hear the planes- I knew she was lieing. But just maybe when those residents in Hertfordshire put their properties up for sale they should be honest and state that they are subject to aircraft noise.

Whilst they stick together holding their demonstrations about the airport, i bet you as individuals they do not admit to experiencing the sounds of 'progress'.

You should have been around with Court Line 1-11s and Britannia 73-2 & Monarch B720s, that was something to hear!

100 slots for biz jets sounds like a normal day.
Just had a look at yesterday (Saturday) - 99 executive jet movements in the 24 hour period. Of course, weekdays are normally busier for such operations than weekends.

...and around 200 airline movements from 10 airlines, including 43 Wizzair and 30 Ryanair....

We flew out of Luton on Saturday afternoon, so where we're the traditional traffic jams, drove straight out of long term into the Tinminal complex without stopping!

As a youngster I was fortunate enough in that my father, grandfather and uncles worked for Britannia. This meant having the opportunities to accompany my father working 12 hour shifts, and me spending whole days sat on aircraft steps positioned next to the line office which was in front of the hangar.

Every half hour or so I sat in the tug with him as he pushed the aircraft back. Embarassingly I used to draw pictures of the Monarch one-ellevens and Boeing 720's and show them to an elderly gentleman who liked to come over to the line office and watch himself the unfolding events on the apron. I got to know the elderly man quiet well and at my young age not appreciating he was someone important. I would eventually come to realise he was in fact Derek Davidson the leading Pilot and subsequent MD of Britannia. Also embarrasingly, every now and then I would tell my father to get the pilots autographs because back then pilots were deemed as gods!

I only wished that I had a camera with me on the dozens of days sat on that Apron.

So I do recall all the classic jets and airlines that used to operate from Luton and in turn whilst I do not recall Monarch Bristol Britannias, I have seen various photos of me (extremely young) on the apron with them in the background. But I do recal Redcoat Britannias and Aer Turas Britannias and CL44D.

I do however agree that the aircraft of the 70's and 80's were much more interesting. Todays jets are far too quiet!

Arrived at Luton today at 15:20, straight through immigration, not a queue in sight, but then a 30 min wait for bags in what was a very quiet arrivals area of the Tinminal.

Just checked yesterday's movements to compare with the previous Saturday - 96 executive jet movements (99 last week), so the Silverstone/Wimbledon effect wasn't very marked!

Appears that Thomson's dreamliners may be maintained at LTN and not at MAEL in MAN after all.
Since Spotty M dropped their 787 order , boeings Goldcare options seem to be limited in the UK.
Heard a rumour that Hangar 61 was being measured up to make sure it fits.If that is the case there will be a lot of training being carried out as the first delivery is Feb next year.Think Thomson are getting 4 of the Tui order of 12, the others being split around the other Tui Europe group.

Is there not an issue with wingspan on LTN's west apron preventing usage of the B787 in that part of the airport? Max span 52m?

On the other side of the airport (40 stands) there wouldn't be this issue?

Thomson, cancelled the agreement that they had for Goldcare with Boeing around February of this year.
You still have both Virgin and BA taking B787s and BA is offering Goldcare for Boeing as well as MAEL.
It just means that Thomson will have to buy the tooling needed, which mounts to millions of pounds instead of Boeing.
