These people don't even know they're born. The airfield has been in use since the 1930s, so they've moved to the area in that time. They know there's an airport there! Do you expect them not to use it and/or not grow their business?!
These residents have got lucky, because it could've easily been a full length 3,000m runway and heavy long range aircraft coming in under previous proposals. The new plan has the best of both worlds.
