Budfrey, everytime I have used EK over the last 12 months I have been bussed to the aircraft in Dubai, so if it is good enough there they can have no complaints (as an airline) if the same happens in Birmingham.

bhx bussed stands

Being bussed from aircraft stands is no big problem as long as ground handling is ready for the aircraft when it arrives...
In fact on my last 2 flights to Dubai i was bussed at Dubai ........ but i must admit it wasn't raining !!

Birmingham Airport don't charge more for being on an airbridge. Its just that with Emirates 'power' they are usually guaranteed one.

Bit of drama this evening, The Flybe IOM-LGW diverted in on a full emergency with gear problems. Landed OK and towed to stand, caused some problems for the flights behind with 10-15 mins holding. Lots of talk about going to EMA when ATC weren't able to give an estimate for approach but the stacks were cleared quickly and soon back to normal.

Emirates Lounge

The plan is to have it on the top floor of the new international peer that will begin construction in the coming weeks. The new lounge is said to have its own michelin (not the tyre company) cheff. Be great if it happens and shows how well Emirates does out of bhx buisness class wise, if it is prepared to put in its own lounge.
The good news for bhx just keeps on rolling, long may it continue............

Does anybody think FR will be able to compete with BE and LH to Frankfurt?

BE fly their 3 daily
LH fly their 4 daily

FR will fly their 4 weekly ?? Does anybody think it will work?

It'll work I'm sure, but it probably won't take much of the premium traffic associated with this route.

FR to HHN

If they were flying to Frankfurt, then it might have an impact on leisure traffic destined for the metroplis. However Frankfurt am Main is, by Ryanair's own admission, 125km from Hahn (about 80 miles in old money) - a little bit less than Birmingham is from London, and it isn't on the DB ICE network either.

It's actually not so badly placed for leisure travel to the Mosel region - Trier etc so it should open up new markets from BHX - and might tempt some inbound tourism to the Midlands from the region.

LH to Dusseldorf

Are LH planning to use CRJ-700s from Dusseldorf from 1st September to 26th October?

I am asking because on the BHX timetable LH numbers do not show this, but the codeshares BD numbers do. They show CR7 on 3 of the 4 services with slightly different times.

Is this a mistake or is this just not confirmed?

Not sure where you are looking but I have checked amadeus and
both the LH & BD codeshare are showing the CR7 and not just
until October. I checked selective dates in November and January
and it is the same aircraft operating all four flights as CR7's.

The April figures for Dusseldorf were fantastic and other than the
HLX Cologne now out of the way and flybe changed the early
afternoon departure to a Q400, it does seem to be on the up.

The other thing of course is that flybe add the 195 in September
to the evening inbound flight.

All in all in looks like a fairly decent increase.

As for Ryanair HHN, at least it is not using a BHX based aircraft,
I just can't wait to see some of the load factors on their routes
this winter .

Also easy are reducing BHX-GVA during parts of August and September -
down from daily to Mo, We, Fr & Sun before returning to daily.
I fly on a Wednesday, which was a close shave as it would have caused
me big problems.

Lh Dus

I was looking at the BHX online timetable, it doesn't show LH as CR7s just the BD codeshares, thats where i was getting confused. Plus it shows from the winter schedules LH to be CR2s again, it gets me confused when one website says one thing and another says something different.

Prefer the CR7s anyway

cheers
