I heard that TS is off to Servicair, oh and DAZE this is a rumours network so please dont spoil it with facts, rumours are much more fun...........

Also a change of subject, Ive heard that all smoking shelters are to be removed from airside and landside resulting in BHX being the first No smoking "site" airport in the UK.............

Rumours

I'm sorry to disagree, but this is a site supposedly populated by reasonably adult people who live in the real, rather than fantasy world.

It would give posts more creadence if they had some basis in fact - any fool can start a rumour - but start too many wild ones, and anything posted that may be factual more is easily dismissed, dependent upon who the poster is.

Rumours may be fun - but so were The Famous Five, and lashings of ginger beer!! It makes them neither real, nor of any factual relevance.

Just what i was thinking.

Anyway yesterday 27/03 the EI264 was EI-CPC A321.

The summer timetable (for scheduled services) starts 30th March or in other words sunday so i am going to list the changes:

-All SK flights change to 146/ARJs (which is a shame as the MDs look nice)

-Bmibaby add summer only destinations over the next few months, these destinations include:

Bordeaux
Milan Bergamo (new)
Warsaw (new)

Plus increases in a lot of the destinations

- Flybe changes:

Extra weekend Jersey and Guernsey flights
Extra Brest flights
New daily Inverness flights
2nd daily Isle Of Man flight
Extra Aberdeen flights
New Newquay flights
Return of Bergerac
Dubrovnik and Split return in May

-All Easyjet flights to be operated by Easy swiss

-New Ryanair flights (not including the base)

Pisa
Marseilles
Gerona

Who is this rumoured fourth handling agent at BHX, is it an independent or one of the big guys moving in? I would have thought that three is already a crowd, but know there are one or two big contracts up for tender shortly.

By the way, as best as I'm aware BGY and WAW are going to be year-round routes for WW, not summer-only.

Flygene

They are starting small at BHX with just LH & Swiss, they clean LH at MAN and LH are very happy with them, Lionel (Ex S/Air, Aviance & Swissport) is going to be Station manager, but then again we have had new cleaners before, can't remember who it was who (briefly) did TCX a few years ago and they never lasted long.
ICS need some competition as they are poor around shift change & refuse to do anything to change this.

FR operation will change to T2 as from 1st June in order to allow S/air
& BIA to work out ways of coping with the massive influx of pax into T2 as from 17th June which will be fun, (Cue a reply from Call 100) & despite rumours from both S/air & BIA terminal staff, KL/AF will not be moving to T1.

This rumour about bhx being a "no smoking" site - is just for employees as passengers cant smoke anyway. I guess loads public buildings are no smoking, and their employees either get over it ..or leave....hospitals, schools, factories etc. Just wondering where the info came from and how reliable it is. I don't smoke much but would have preferred to hear I might be being required to give up altogether from the management themselves not the grapevine. Still this is A RUMOUR network and might not be right any way.

This rumour about bhx being a "no smoking" site -
Nothing has been said about this from BHX management (yet) If they are going to do something like that they usually consult with the airport TU's. As far as I know they have not mentioned it even in passing.
I think it may have come about because they have to move the shelter at the end of the pier when the work on the new one commences. Not sure if they are going to replace it yet. If they don't it will only leave the one behind the short pier.

Routes

Its nice to see some new routes on the departure board. Would like to know though if EasyJet have anything else planned for Birmingham, or if there going to keep there distance for a while with all the new Ryanair routes.

Maybe BHX = FR base, MAN = EZY base and they share the spoils at the two smaller airports in the region (EMA/LPL)

Or maybe the two CEOs are thinking differently.....

Ryanair has launched the first of 20 new routes from the Airport starting on Tuesday 1st April to Barcelona (Girona). This new service will operate three times a week.

Additionally the new service to Pisa commences on 2nd April and will also operate three days a week. These two new Ryanair routes will deliver an additional 80,000 passengers through the airport in their first year.

These two services are the fisrt of 20 new destinations due to be launched by Ryanair from Birmingham International Airport this year. This major expansion means that the airline will operate to 22 destinations all together from Birmingham. Other Ryanair flights pending their launch are Oslo, Stockholm, Gdansk, Bydgoszcz, Rzeszow, Marseille, Dinard, Porto and Trapani (Sicily), all of which will commence from the 1st May onwards!
