Flybe

Flybe 4x weekly to Dundee
Typical Flybe, half-hearted attempt to restart a route from BHX. I believe that BFS is to get a daily service from Dundee? Yet flywhoosh was twice daily and BHX route carried far many more passengers than BFS.
What will happen is that business passengers will be put off by the rediculous schedule and then Flybe will withdraw the route as they have so many at BHX.

Loganair

On Loganairs website it says there will be 3 return weekday services between Birmingham and Dundee.

From their website:

"From May 21, three return weekday flights will be introduced between Dundee and Birmingham, with one return flight on Sunday and there will also be a daily weekday return flight between Dundee and Belfast City Airport, with one return flight on Sunday."

Dundee Evening Telegraph says 3 per day DND-BHX

Dundee Evening Telegraph

"....Loganair is reintroducing flights to Birmingham and Belfast from Dundee Airport just months after FlyWhoosh’s collapse (writes Stefan Morkis).
The company, which will operate the flights under the Flybe banner, also wants to introduce more services from the airport in coming months.
From May 21, three return flights each weekday and one Sunday return will be introduced between Dundee and Birmingham.

There will also be one return flight each weekday and one Sunday return to Belfast."

Much better news 3x daily and 1x Sun service would be much better.

Dundee

It is still wrong on the flybe website - obviously the lines of communication are not as strong as they should be between
them and Loganair.

Anyway three a day is much more like it although double daily might
have been sufficient to start with but I suppose the aircraft needs
to go somewhere and a third destination might be taking too much on.

Fabulous February!

Feb pax 635052 up 9.2%

Selected quote from the bhx site

" Scheduled routes that experienced growth in January includes: Bratislava (+567.6%), Murcia (+229%), Faro (+127.2%), Geneva (+124.2%), Arrecife (+79%), Palma (+63%), Paphos (+54.1%), Nice (+42.9%), Chambery (+30%), Copenhagen (+28.1%), Glasgow (+26.3%), Dusseldorf (+23.9%), Inverness (+19.2%), Zurich (+18.3%), Munich (+15.5%) and Madrid (+15.2%)."

Many reasons behind some of these such as MJV & FAO had Baby
this year compared to last. Monarch Palma either started earlier
or had more flights but INV & ZRH had no real increase other than
the extra day. DUS is amazing even taking into account HLX CGN
had gone and the extra day. BACON were flying 2 x 110 seat RJ100's
and 2 145's compared to flybes mainly 145's although Q400's have
been on the route.

CPH & MUC have had seat increases but are rewarded for summer
with reductions (CPH & MUC both showing as RJ85's).

However total figure is amazing even when you take 25000 away
for Friday 29/2/08 - it is still up 5%.

After the stagnant January figure - where did this one come from?

I guessed at 615000 - 620000, miles out but the right way this time.

Summer 2008 KL/SN/LH

KL still six a day but in one res system the three 737 flights are showing
as 738's for some of the time.

The last out changes from a F70 to F100 again (not all dates checked) but coupled with the 16.40 staying as a 737 this is up on last summer.

SN seem to drop one flight (early afternoon) from 15/4 to 1/9 and another
goes in July to 1/9 (as usual).

LH - FRA & DUS is no change but Munich seems to drop back to an all
RJ85 operation (not all dates checked)

The FRA is scheduled as 2 x 735 and 2 x 733 but THU evening is often
a 321 and Fri a 320.

Today the LH4900 (735) was upgraded to a 321!

SAS still showing as RJ85

Lufthansa Hamburg

Have Lufty lost the plot on this one?

Certain reservation systems showing a delayed start, now 5/5/08
and revised timings.

In at 11.00 and out at 11.30.

Yep, just a 40 minute difference in departure times with the flybe
flight. Flybe are also adding more seats in from 9/6 with the Q400.

I thought once a day was strange in the first place but these times
seem a little odd. I assume it is just leisure traffic they are after and
the business person who can afford a night-stop and flying at rubbish
times

cvaf3

February 29 added about 25000, therefore the increase was at least
29000 pax on a like for like basis or a 5% increase.

Certainly the individual routes have been distorted with the extra day but some like DUS still had less seats available than 2007. The CAA stats when published next week with the individual route analysis will give a better indication of exactly how good these figures are.

BHX International Pier

I know they are going to start work on the new international pier pretty soon because they were testing deplaning procedures for the Emirates a few weeks back when they go over to the remote stand to start work on the new international pier.

But does anybody have any links to the plan of the new pier. I have checked the master plan but that shows an overview of the whole airport development and not just the int pier.

I overheard somebody who had seen the plans talking about it a few days ago, and from what i heard they didn't seem impressed. Just wanted to see for myself.

Thanks in advance people.

Emirates deplaning

''I know they are going to start work on the new international pier pretty soon because they were testing deplaning procedures for the Emirates a few weeks back when they go over to the remote stand to start work on the new international pier.''

Bearing in mind the Dubai remote operation at the moment whilst their terminal is being completed, I am sure that Emirates are more than capable of deplaning a full 777-300ER competently. The bussing infastructure at BHX is also used to dealing with simaltaneous arrivals totalling more than 400 passengers. (2 * 757-200 = 470pax). Emirates aircraft have recently been towed to remote stands due to being tech at BHX.

New International Pier

With all due respect BHX boy, I wasn't asking for a lecture from the politically correct brigade regarding planing and deplaning procedures but instead was asking for plans of how the new International Pier will look.

The reason I mentioned the Emirates deplaning procedure at BHX is because that is what triggered me asking for it in the first place.

To clarify BHX boy, it was stated by CE (EK Stn Mgr at BHX) that they were going to put steps on the back of the aircraft to test how the deplaning procedure would work at BHX when the aircraft will be parked at the remote stands due to resurfacing work near stands 40 and 41, and work created due to the building of the new pier.

I am not disputing that they will not be able to manage, however it is always better to be on the safe side by initially testing and experimenting procedures and working on ways to make them more effective.

I want to apologise to those of you who may become a little annoyed with this rant, however it annoys me when instead of gettin replies to what was initially asked, you get what seems like a sarcastic response.

Now back to what I initially asked: I would be very greatful if anybody could point me in the right direction as to where I may be able to obtain the plan for the new International Pier at BHX.

Thank you people.

FCA Aruba & Barbados

Details posted on another forum but still waiting for clarification of the
source (FCA website on my computer is not showing them even after
a refresh).

The sample dates quoted are Barbados Wed and Aruba Saturday.

TOM 763 goes: -

Monday - Cancun
Tuesday - Montego Bay
Wednesday (Barbados)
Thursday
Friday (Cruise flights)
Saturday (Aruba)
Sunday - La Romana from Dec

It would all seem to fit.

BTW GOA still showing Monday as FCA0028 which I assume is split-
loaded with Manchester.

Next winter for TOM/FCA will be exceptional if it all operates.

FCA Barbados & Aruba

The clarification was in my inbox all the time!

It was from the airport itself!

Last time I moan about BHX marketing they have got the details
out pretty quick, well very quick if you can't book them online yet.

Barbados & Aruba

The above apparently do not provide any extra seats in the market.

It is merely the current weekly Wednesday Bridgetown TOM cruise flight
which will be split into a fortnightly Barbados and fortnightly Aruba and
you can now book a beach holiday rather than just a cruise.

More choice I suppose but overall still up on winter 2007/8.
