Interesting . . . ..
TORONTO (Reuters) - Toronto's Pearson International Airport has been
billed the world's most costly place to land a airplane according to
the annual Air Transport Research Society survey released on Tuesday.
Pearson, Canada's busiest airport, charged $10,986 for airlines to
land a Boeing 747 aircraft last year, which is 45.5 percent ahead of
the cost to land at Osaka's Kansai airport, which had the second
highest landing fees.
Tokyo's Narita airport was third with landing fees of $7,400, while
Birmingham, England, finished fourth with landing fees of $7,013.
Landing fees at Toronto were also more than double the $5,031 charged
at New York's LaGuardia, which was the second most expensive airport
to land at in North America.
The report marked the first time in five annual surveys that
Toronto's airport occupied the top spot after finishing runner-up to
Narita in the previous two surveys.

Not new news I suppose and I guess this would only apply to B747' s a rare sight at BHX ! But - is it indicative of the general costs at BHX compared with others ?

GA?
While we are on the subject of landing fees at BHX; and I don't have a Pooleys / AIP to hand... does anybody know what the likely landing / handling fees at BHX would be for a small GA helicopter (Robinson 22/44) ?
Just curious.. but not curious enough to actually ring and ask!

Easyjet
Have heard a rumour that Easy are to continue their GVA flight as a year round operation at BHX - is this a slowly but surely approach to the testing of waters for more routes from BHX??? I don't seem to remember GVA being a very successful year round route from BHX (tried by BA and Duo, maybe others?) it seems to be an odd one to keep on as a stand alone flight especially as it is also flown from EMA - mind you flights from both airports works for Baby on a number of key routes.

TK
Saw the same post but I have heard nothing on local forums, not a single hint/mention.
This would be an interesting one to get and quite a gamble for TK
but the Manchester service must be doing well and logically I suppose
they would consider BHX next for more services to England.
Three a week is bold but I suppose to attract the right mix of traffic, this would be the least that they could do, a definite case of fingers crossed.

Hi Pete
From what I can remember that was about the number of flights they originally did from Manchester and have gradually grown it going from B735
thru to quite a few A321( summer ) A320 (winter) flights
They do seem to be quite a progresive airline and stuck with it even when loads were quite poor at first

Busy week ahead at BHX - that will make a change
Will be good to finally see the plans and hopefully see a good airport transform into a great one.......lets hope this is the start in a reversal of fortunes for BHX

Call 100, I think I am fairly positive at the mo, haven't had to reach for the anti-depressants for at least three weeks .............I know the plans have been available to see for a while but living as I do now in Oman (with only limited Internet access at work) I doubt i'll get chance to see them and I doubt the 'show bus' will make it this far!! When I come back to the UK for Xmas I will make sure I take a good look and hopefully won't need to moan ever again.......... All i'm hearing so far is good!

Good news to see flybe adding two more domestic destinations, though I wonder whether the frequencies need to be increased on both routes from what has been announced if they want to attract a broader range of pax. 3x weekly to NQY will most likely not discourage pax from the flexibility of driving or taking the train, and 1x daily INV doesn't really compete with the businessman-friendly T3 timetable - though FR only do EMA-INV daily and seem to be doing ok. Does the Q400 have the range and economics to make some of the dropped BACON routes viable when the dust has settled from the merger like TXL or possibly expanding eastwards?

Flybe
Had a quick look at the schedule and it is similar to summer 2007, with
Newquay & Inverness added in, Toulouse and Galway gone.
A 4th Aberdeen has been added on a Monday & Friday and Bergerac
has been reduced.
Still 10 based plus the DUS night-stopper working through. I found one
gap in the schedule from 10.15 - 14.45 Monday to Friday.
Could this gap be for Oslo? It is a bit tight but should just be able to do it or is this just wishful thinking?
