That was Eddy Stobarts its hangar wasn't finished at Carlisle so it sheltered in hangar one MME for a few winter weeks. It has never been back since.

That was Eddy Stobarts
Judging by the tenuous links re based aircraft / rich persons etc. I'm just waiting for someone to make the connection between haulage and a large shortly to be available development site... oops !

So what do you think is Globespan leaving?

ABZ seems to be getting more routes could be because there will be no return to MME. Plus haven't heard about them making a move to find new a/c to replace the 2 733's they are to dispose of.

I have heard on the grapevine that there will be a gradual closure of DTV, and more money invested through local governments of the North East (and of course Copenhagen airport) in Newcastle airport with the announcement of Ryanair to base 4 aircraft up in NCL.

DTV Wizz et al..

Well, as expected it looks like Wizz are also leaving the sinking ship..unable to book as they say they no longer operate from DTV ??

as for the FR rumour spotted HH6702 posts before..he lives in a make believe world!!

if globespan do go and BMI keep cancelling at the rate they have been then all we will have to rely upon are leeds diversions this winter!!

ah, so there must be truth in the rumour of a high speed train link from DTV to NCL and the zoning of a 'new' long term car park for NCL on lots of empty tarmac......

Bandits out of the sun.

Sun? now there is a memory!

Warsaw Bookable.........Not!!

Photon - When are you booked on the Wizz Air? I wanted to book for October but there is nothing bookable after 13th September, out or back. Tried all the way to June 2009, each time getting "Sorry, there are no fares available for this date". Looks like Highwideandugly is correct. Bye, bye Wizz Air!!!

A shame but the odd's are stacked against MME

With the ex Pm up the road (when not in the Middle East) they deserve better, but Nu Labour have done for them (APD) and the CAA will finish them off with the new LHR charging scheme which will cost bmi more per pax than the train costs.

So for now you slot holding until the bmi/Luffty issue is sorted then it will be goodbye MME. You might get a few W patterns from the likes of Globespam or baby and the odd charter, but this winter being a spotter will be like watching paint dry

The should have gone for the freight market years ago

Get me out of here!

Well it looks like Flyglobespan are leaving after January, with Wizz leaving in September it looks as though DTV is starting to fall apart.

Will there be a rescue bid by someone else or is it all starting to be a bit of a coincidence?

If this is all true I hope the higher management at the airport get the boot as well as dosy Hugh.
If this was any other business they would of been out a long time ago.
The airport has potential, I know times are hard but this has been going on much longer than just a year. I suggest people start writing to their local MPs outline your concerns, even if the airport is not in your MPs consituency.
I have had experience of the higher managment at MME and they stink. I will not swear on here but thats what they make me want to do. The whole situation is very worrying for all the people employed directly or indirectly by the airport.
PEEL PULL YOUR FINGER OUT. KERRY, HUGH AND THE REST OF YOU I HOPE YOUR READING THIS BECAUSE YOUR A BUNCH OF INCOMPETENT MONKEYS AND THAT IS BEING CRUEL ON THE MONKEYS!

(I know I was shouting but that is how I feel)

MME has always been hampered by poor management going back to Ike`s time . They have the attitude and mentality that a small local airport can do without, instead of looking after customers they have always tried to dictate to based operators and owners and have done nothing to encourage growth, they are all (and always have been) a bunch of jobsworths more worried about their pensions and bonuses than the future of MME.

Sadly the future looks grim unless Peel get some competent managers to run the airport who can rebuild the customer base that MME deserves and that therefore rules out any of the present management

Just my opinion anyway!

Well if you put children in sweet shops what do you expect. As said all along Kerry as front person is no more than a monkey and when in context of the organ grinder who remains 'Hughie' irrespective of what fancy title is dreamed up. As proven by Hughie's track record then 'more of the same' suggests big trouble ahead.

THe game is up. Peel holdings are a developement company. If the present management can't make a go of the the DTV site as an airport, Peel aint goin' to shed any tears, 350 acres of land with planning permission they got for free (from the local ratepayer. thankyou Bob Gibson et al) will make them millions whatever they do with it. DTV supporters and spotters wake up and smell some reality.

Durham Tees Valley - The Demise

Where do I start, from January 2009 MME will be a ghost town!! No winter ITs when GSM pull out in January so we are left with -

KLM - 3 Daily to AMS
bmi - 3 Daily to LHR ( possibly until the slots are sold)
Eastern - 3 Daily to ABZ
Ryanair - 1 Daily to DUB,3 Weekly to ALC

Thats it!! This year -

TNT GONE - RYR GIRONA GONE - GSM GOING - WIZZ GOING - TOM GONE -

Is this a Peel thing? NCL continues to grow even in difficult times and we are about to become a housing estate!! Its very sad, the area has a large population crying out for a good facility but not for much longer I fear. It tells you something when we lose out on most of the Sunderland Airshow traffic to NCL having looked after them for years and nobody gives a damn!!

All this 'Doom & Gloom seems to coincide with the 'Rumour' of DTV being taken under NCL's wing??

At the end of the day, If the Airport is not cashing in then it may go to the wall.

I hope not, DTV is a friendly Airport.

I hope the above rumour is incorrect. Like you say, MME is a very friendly little place. The inebriate from NCL would do a worse job of running it than the current incumbents of the role. You just have to look at the way NCL has gone down the plug hole since his tenure began. Now, If the LBA were to take it under their wing, it may be a different story. Just keep the piggy bank securely locked.
