Looks like the last one out tonight - came in empty from Ljubljana and has just left for Oslo. It was taking young musicians back as they were seen getting off coaches earlier.

On another bright note, Onur are sending an A300 on the Bodrum flight tonight - is this a one-off or peak summer upgrade? if the latter, I would have thought the later Dalaman flight would be the one that would be upgraded!

The SAS flights don't appear on their website either by destination or by flight no so they are obviously private charters and not something to get too excited about.
The following is on the website (and has been appearing every day the flight has operated):

SK7116 Oslo (Gardermoen) 19:00 19:00

Sorry, not sure on that one paarmo, not even sure if it's the same brass band that has been coming in and out on each flight or if it's a different one each time.

Big aeroplane just passed overhead. Very low. Lower than the Falcons which come overhead as well. From the website it appears to be a Turkish plane. Can Aitch Dee tell me whether they can pick their own height for landing as I am about 15 miles from threshold as crow ,or Turkish Airliner, flies.

Onur Air A300-600, possibly on a visual approach? Or maybe radar descended them early because of other traffic?

Thank you. Just thinking that if and when MME expand cargo flights then most will be late evening and overnight and if they use the same flight path it will be very loud and intrusive. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this.

It depends how long the residents have been living there...the airport has been there a very long time (and I don't just mean as a commercial airport). Don't want noise? Don't live next to an airport! Just my 2p

Councilor Jones and he NIMBYs have been moaning for a number of years, at Middleton St George they try and scupper any development.
They obviously haven't lived locally very long as they would of remembered how noisey 707s, 727s, Comets BAC 1-11 and the early DC-9s where. Nevermind the lightnings and Javelins that lived there in the RAF days.

I think the simple solution is shut up or move, for anyone who complains about flights into DTVA, you don't move to the country side and say to your farmer neighbour "can you stop your cows smelling of "

It actually doesn't bother me it was just that the last two flights in were very much lower than the average.
As an aside a power company have just got planning permission to build a windfarm less than 1 mile off Redcar which is about 15 miles on the flight path from MME. The structures will be 130 meters tall and no one can say what the radar echo will be when they are spinning at max revs which is most of the time at Redcar. I wondered if Aitch Dee or any ATCO has had experience of windfarms and what their problems are especially with light traffic into MME

Paarmo, I would suggest that these flights were no lower than usual. The affect is caused by something called perspective. A large aeroplane at the same height as a small one, when viewed from the ground, will always appear to be lower.

Does anyone know what this is about? Has appeared on the airports website:

Due to essential maintenance work at Durham Tees Valley Airport on the evening of Thursday 3rd July between the hours of 23.00 and 02.00 (Friday 4th July), the flight informaiton section will not be updated during this period.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

It was due to a planned shutdown of the power on the airport to connect a backup generator. The time was chosen to minimise disruption to flights.

Bmi Lhr

The BMI LHR early departure was cancelled this morning. My parents were due to fly but were told it was cancelled because the aircraft was struck by lightning through the night. Passengers were offered bus to LBA.

I wouldn't have thought a lightning strike would have grounded the plane? Or are there some checks that are needed before it can fly again?

The last flight from LHR didnt arrive last night so the "lightning strike" must have taken place elsewhere. Sound a bit fishy!!

There's definitely a rabbit off - the 338 was delayed to 19:00 then to 20:00 and was then cancelled, along with the 340 and this morning's 331 - the 338/340 are never the same aircraft, so unless both were struck by lightening, which is very unlikely, someone's lying out of there !

Good news?

Sort of good news today when the Eddie Stobart group withdrew their plans to create a huge cargo terminal at Carlisle. They did not fancy a long drawn out public enquiry I believe. One less competitor for MME albeit fairly distant but if Stobart believes he can make money at it then perhaps Peel are on the right track.
