Cork only has weight restrictions for B767-200 ->
It has no weight restrictions for....

For e.g. Bristol has a 230ft shorter runway and has a daily EWR-BRS service so there is no issue with services from CO & DL just the fact that from what i can see is... The DAA dont want to have continue's losses from SNN so are trying to keep services there - They dont want DUB effected because numbers already droped 12.6%, the fact is the main problem is their's no competition. Am i the only 1 that remember's back in 2004 when the airports ''were being split up

Is that definitely right about Belfast only having one aircraft this Winter?
I wouldn't judge by what Aer Lingus are selling at the moment. On that basis, you'd end up concluding that Cork will only retain Heathrow and Amsterdam for the Winter.

Jet 2 did the short series last year, 2009, with 757-200. There were two outbound flights. The year before, 2008, it was Arkia with the 757-300 which also did two outbound flights and in 2007 I think it was with a Thomson 737-800 or at least on the homebound leg to Cork it was a 737. There may have been just one flight that year but I am not fully sure. Just dont remember. Interestingly, years ago, in the 1990s, El Al themselves did a few of those Holy Land flights with the 757. Seems to be an interest in the Cork area for a few Holy Land flights. Guess it almost makes it as a long haul flight for Cork.

That is total rubish! All ATR-72/500'S (4) + the 3 on order will operate exclusivly for EI Regional. Also guys ive been hearing that a Wizz Air announcement re:Cork is about to me made within the following weeks. Hopefully a new ORK-PRG or ORK-BUD route.

Good news and Bad news
The good news:

And in a different article in Friday's "Evening Echo" [sorry no online version], the Lord Mayor of Cork was responding to the axing of Aer Lingus' Cork to Berlin route. His response was very encouraging. To paraphrase he said something like: "Direct links to European cities cannot be overstated. Cork needs to a find a mechanism whereby it can incentivise (provide financial support to) airlines like Aer Lingus and Ryanair to operate routes from Cork to the likes of Berlin and Brussels".
The bad news:
Ryanair rule out the addition of new routes at Cork [from the same article linked above | Irish Examiner ]. It's looking like come September that temporary 2nd aircraft will indeed be moving on.

A small bit of good news on the land transport side of things in that Skylink have now been licensed to run a bus service form the airport to the train station

In theory, it should help make Cork a more attractive option for people who live along the rail lines to Dublin and Kerry (not sure it would be such a benefit for people on the Midleton or Cobh lines) or for the substantial number of tourists bound for Killarney. Now to make sure that people become aware that the route is available.
Given the lack of publicity given to Citylink's Galway-Limerick-Mallow-Cork Airport service, I don't hold out huge hope.

FR Sun Routes
SNN/ORK to Biarritz has been loaded into FR drop down menu as a destination from these airports though cannot book flights - any information? Great destination for access to north of spain
