The website you mention is notoriously unreliable.... Most of the times, they appear to be simply doing what has been done here in that case as well - they scan booking engines for new city pairs.

Interesting that it has appeared from both ORK and SNN. I would not be surprised if it is for the Heineken Cup, but would love to be proved wrong. ORK does not offer much by way of connections to that region. It could be a good route in winter for Skiing as well.

Cork Biarritz could work and not for just well intentioned but vague aspirational hopes. If anyone is interested from the Ryanair end post a contact here and I can make sure a very relevant party around the Biarritz area can follow this up.

There it is. Too damn tired for waffling on any more about it.

Cork Biarritz

I doubt if it's anything other than a Heineken Cup Charter. Ryanair would surely have announced it as part of its holiday package from Cork if it wanted to fly there. It's a pity they didn't go there and leave La Rochelle to Aer Arann.

Aye, the web site you mention is in a lot of cases rubbish - and they don't actually listen when you send in corrections. They still think Virgin Atlantic serves Lagos and Sydney from Dublin...

San Sebastian has a shorter runway than Cork. Spanair 717s & Iberia A319 are a real highlight. CRJ200s make up more regular traffic. Very nice place though I am told and comes recommended for a visit.

It's a slightly strange route for Manx2, given that they're not known in either market. But considering their collection of Lets and Dorniers, it might work. Any time I used the route when Aer Arann were flying it, there was around 35-40 on board. With their aircraft having considerably fewer seats than that, it should be possible to decently manage the yield.

Given that the aircraft has to get to either Cork or Galway, is there any word of them opening up routes to the Isle of Man or Gloucester from either airport?

I wonder could a 19 seat plane work to any other Irish airport other than Galway. Sligo perhaps?

Guys i have to say i think the route will work well (Galway-Cork). For a few reasons,

* There is a 65-seater, Bus Eíreann bus serve's Cork-Galway six times daily.

* This new Twice-Daily service (MTWTF--) will give just 36 max, extra passengers a day to both airports. So if Aer Arann served GWY-ORK with a 45 seater ATR-42/300 on Friday & Sunday, the route is obiously going to preform.

Manx2 Timetable

A new Isle-Of-Man service is also a very attractive route to be launched.

Manx2 Cork-Galway

does anyone know what aircraft will operate the route?

I say the route will be good for onward connections.

A small aircraft is definitely enough, because it's such a marginal route.
However, come the end of the year, driving to the Galway will be a lot easier than it is now when the Limerick tunnel under the Shannon river is completed:
Limerick Tunnel : Tunnel Details Introduction

Don't get me wrong, I wish the route a lot of success, I wonder will Manx2 try to do a code share with Aer Lingus on routes of of Cork???

This aircraft type should work on the route even with the new rail service between Cork and Galway as well as the new motorway developments between the 2 cities as long as there is a morning departure and evening return service on the route.
