throw a dyce - some keeps routing an early morning helicopter over our house @ about 06:20 every few days. Seems maybe headed for the Captain field or that area as it's route is over Fraserburgh direction. Given the unsocial hours can't you send it up the coast instead of overland

No .Saves fuel and if there is no traffic then why not route direct.Keeps the noise away from the coast who cop it all the time.

You can go off some folks

Fuels down in price now, the odd 50 miles won't break the bank

Admit it, you're just keeping Trump happy avoiding his playground

Where's it headed anyhow?

My sources from within IAC claimed that an audit was carried out on FLT HQ, and turned up some things that IAC did not like.... Which is a damn shame for everyone based up in Aberdeen as they probably had nothing to do with whatever was not right

Preferred lies I think. Can't see too many Rickenbackers jetting in for the artic experience at the dunes. Gee we just love your Scottish weather.

Flybe reportedly holding slots for up to 7 flights between ABZ & MAN for S09.

If that went ahead, would give bmi Reg something to think about...(unless bmi Reg ARE ABOUT to become part of Flybe...)

Guess though all may depend on what happens to the local economy if the oil price continues to go t*ts up - or is that t*ts down...

seen that Flybe are looking at Cardiff, Manchester and Norwich for the summer.

If flybe launch the Norwich route do you think that will mean Eastern will leave that route? with Easterns return fare at £139 and Flybe will most likely be half of that they wont be able to compete.

There is a bit of history with Eastern and Flybe with its routes from Norwich to Scotland. Apparently Eastern gave Flybe the Edinburgh route on a plate on the proviso that Flybe left Eastern to compete with bmi regional on the Aberdeen.

Rumours wot I read

On another forum:

bmi R hold slots for 3 daily flights to a destination that requires use of the "international" part of the terminal. Flight time 3hrs return. Wonder where that is? Thankfully doubt it's Stavanger this time!

GSM may be using a 73H (wingletted -800) for S09 - based, to replace the 73G?

VLM (again) hold slots for LCY (AR8) & RTM (F50) twice daily - will they use them this time?

Oh, & I have built a snowman...least that one's actually happened!

c'mon, quote your source, its only fair! Summer 09 - Taxiway Alpha

Oh, and I got my codes mixed up for GSM, its down as 73W, which is a 737-700 with winglets, not a 738 with winglets. oops. Appologies for any excitement caused. For some reason last year it was 73G, now its 73W.

You know, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to name check the other forum/person on this forum, which is why I only said "another forum".

It is a mighty fine public forum though!

Anything of interest for ABZ, if I see it/read it, I will put it in here if it has been released for public consumption, be that in another publicly accessible forum of similar ilk to this one, newspapers etc.

Plus of course I do pick up titbits myself, again I post it in here (I may just have a couple of other contacts - occasional - at the airport as well!)

I don't always get it right of course, & if someone posts news ahead of myself, then good for them - I would read it with interest as well!

bmi Regional

Plenty talk today that Flybe are - it is said - carrying out "due diligence" on the books of bmi Reg (& Baby) with a view to acquisition.

Whither now for bmR? And for the Embraers, a type Flybe wanted to dispose of when they took on BACON. IF they acquire Regional, will it be a case of Embraers out, DH8Ds in?

And the end of the HQ/Engineering base at ABZ?

Good luck to all in Regional - having been through this process myself this year, it is an uncertain time. Hopefully it will be good news, whatever happens to Regional in the future.

Sad to hear the demise of FLT. Was the actual loss of the IAC the reason for their demise, or the "problems unknown" which caused them to have the contract taken away the more pertinent reason? Not a nice time of year for this to happen to all involved.

Eastern have been flying to/from Sumburgh I see, I presume that situation will continue until their crews are trained up to fly out of SCS, or ex-FLT crews are TUPED over & are trained onto the Saab - if indeed, as queried, TUPE still applies.

Also some flights by Bristow today (assume EC225?) direct to the Basin.

Are all the 146s out of ABZ now?

Pretty sure FLT came in at around the same time of year when BWA shut down in 2001.
