Would those Saab 2000s be up to lifting all those heavy (& getting heavier!) bears up to Scatsta & back? Doesn't surprise me Eastern are in the mix though.
Atlantic A/W is interesting, but they have experience of operating in harsh environments & through both ABZ & Shetland.
WB do you know where Eastern are getting the extra Saabs from?

Skyways UK?
Any of the ABZ lads know who they are, being mentioned on other threads? Talking about ATR72 & connections with Eastern Airways. After oil contracts & - Oh, look there's a nice juicy one from Aberdeen to Scatsta soon
Meanwhile the worst kept secret is out - the SNP Govt has approved the Trump golfing mecca. Lots of bizjets, a Trump Apron, & who is on for the contract to transport the wealthy from ABZ to Menie & back? Just look out for those pink-footed geese...

Saab 2000s only have 50 seats which is pretty useless to be honest from a capacity point of view. As for Atlantic, I don't think they are the sort of operator that the IAC will wish to use. Skyways are a Swedish regional operator that used to have a mixed jet/prop fleet but think they just use F50s now. I have done some flying for them in the past in Sweden and they seem to have a nice set up over there.
Nothing has been formally announced as yet though.

'Strange - everyone I talked to in Abz on Friday were saying Flybe had it sown up... guess only time will tell... '
You're obviously mixing with the wrong crowd in ABZ

Flybe were up North for a proving flight only a couple of weeks ago.
Maybe they didn't like what they saw?.
More wind = greater lift- essential in short airfields!
they are all out in their deck-chairs today at scs
You will hear who gets it shortly -

I think when Flybe realised they couldn't scam any additional money out of the passengers for a chocolate biscuit or bottle of perfume they realised it wasn't really their thing

I dont think 4 round trips a day would work unless the footfall is due to drop. With added cargo and freight as well, and less short field performance than the 146 (i guess) i would have thought a lot more trips than are flown today.....

Whilst I agree that "powerbacks" are noisy, why do you think they are dangerous? Tis done under ground personnel guidance......
As an aside, I have been a passenger on 727's and DC-9's that have powered-back off stand in the USA and at Caribbean airports - have felt at more risk with some of the high-speed, tug-shoves I have experienced over the years.
