FBL. 'I don't want this to turn into a political forum' Then you proceed to do exactly that. I for one, am NOT interested in your political views. Nor am I interested in the views of someone who comes from Newcastle NI, either wrt PIK or wrt Scottish politics.
FWIW, FLB, made some pretty valid points as regards PIK. Perhaps if others viewed it in a similar vein, then we may get somewhere with it.

Prestwick airport flights down to one a day - The Scotsman
Key point, when Ryanair claim to be "just breaking even" with their PIK ops, do they mean winter ops? And 361 staff???? Really?

I'm heading RYR will be gone by March 30th. Apparently after the referendum (no matter the outcome) Ryanair will officially move its S15 schedule to EGPF. A "deal" has been done between RYR and the Scottish Government, to name Nicola Sturgeon to keep this news away from the public till after the referendum for fear of losing the Ayrshire Yes vote.

Simply illustrates the nonsensical position we've got ourselves into where some upstart nyaff can dictate the fate of our national infrastructure - irrespective of the ownership of the latter.

Well done McTeir, another negative comment after a positive post!
I admit the article is rather speculative and vague but if there's any truth in it, I hardly think GLA and EDI will be interested if its cargo related.

....... Speculation just brings out the Anti PIK, GLA & EDI supporters! I`m aware of what`s happening (privileged I suppose)- are you? Just one question if I may, if these companies are talking to GLA & EDI as well - why is this not mentioned on their respective forums today? This being a PIK forum
Don`t ask me, just wait and find out.....

So Manston's gone, Blackpool's going, Teessides' hanging on by it's fingernails. So genuine question :
If PIK manages a deal tomorrow to get one B744F on a daily service to somewhere, how many more of them would it take to balance the books on the current cost base?
Key problem here is their business model doesn't work, it's now an endemic structural weakness. Much of the Ryanair schedule is off to Glasgow and they still have that enormous terminal to keep open for the remainder. This is the scenario which is about to close BLK as to accomodate Jet2, they had to heat and staff a terminal that sat empty much of the day. Sound familiar? The next opportunity is for Ryanair to consolidate winter flying at GLA and make seasonal sun flying through PIK a summer only activity.
So has the cost base issue at PIK been addressed? In the public sector? Er....no.

Hyperboon. Probably best that the positive peoples among us stop posting on this tread and so stop attracting these other people who have nothing positive to say ? Leave them to think it's all about Ryanair, and that Cargolux, Italia, Air France, Kalitta, National, Easyjet, Jet2, DHL, BA, BMI, Loganair, ADB, VDA, UKL, RSA, RAF, RN, RCAF, USAF, USN, USMC, USA, NASA, FAF, GAF, AAF, umpteen exec jets, deliveries, diversions, Ryder Cup, flying clubs and all I've missed this past month, do not exist. And the impact to the local economy ? One single aeroplane to be based here in November will use hundreds of hotel room nights. The JW based aeroplanes will presumably be similar, with scores of rooms already used for JW and it hasn't started yet.

My post was neither negative or positive it was merely stating the facts. If an airline is interested in starting from Scotland it will visit the three main central airports to get the best deal. Simple business facts and I do work for one of those big central belt airports.

No you should read my posts again.
I said that these airlines are speaking to both GLA & EDI in my first post which is fact and I was referring directly to the article in the paper. My second post was merely making the point that any new airline considering Scotland as a destination WILL speak to all the main airports in the central belt and I was not referring to the two airlines in question. Two very clear statements of fact.
I was also defending myself against the charge" that I was in someway anti PIk" for making a point of fact about the article in the papers. It is naive imo for people when they read such articles in papers to believe that any given airline will only speak to one airport and the reason you do not see these stories being released by GLA or EDI is that they are far more aware of how these airlines react unfavourably to airports who release such stories to the media. PIK in the other hand is currently a political hot cake and with MP's all over it trying to get re-elected next year these confidential chats between airlines and PIK are getting used as political footballs in the local media.
