JET2 to HUY
If (as widely predicted on the JET 2 (2) thread) DSA lose out to HUY for getting Jet2 based next summer, then what does it say about Peel and its lack of ambition for the airport?
If it does happen then it would mean in the past couple of months all our nearest competitors (HUY,LBA,EME) recently announcing new low cost carriers and DSA losing Ryanair (albeit just for the winter..or is it?!).
Why invest in a CAT 3 ILS , CAS (D) if you have bugger all aircraft to use them?
Anyway lets wait and see but I can't help but thinking the only Jet2 we will see at DSA is the odd LBA weather divert.
Please prove me wrong Peel !!

DSA Airspace
"Why invest in a CAT 3 ILS , CAS (D) if you have bugger all aircraft to use them?"
Good points well made
What is the review procedure for all the CAS(D) that has been allocated on the assumption that the traffic levels were going to warrant it.
DSA airspace is causing increased workload for the ATC sections at adjacent Airfields that are disproportionate to the traffic levels.
Give some back please……

What DSA needs is an airline that doesn't have a base around this area already (that is, Jet2, Ryanair or bmibaby). Potential candidates (in my opinion) are FlyBe and Wizz Air (if they decide they want to operate from this end of Europe). I say FlyBe because they don't have a base in this area (closest is Birmingham). In the future they may want to open a Northern England base. I would suggest easyJet since they have just pulled out of East Midlands, but they don't seem to want to operate smaller bases, and already operate from "nearby" Newcastle.

Peel Seeks Investors
To be more correct Peel are seeking investors in Peel Airports (i.e. not just DSA).
This has been underway for some months and acknowledged publicly by Peel. In fact I think there were press releases posted on DSA, DTV and LPL web-sites.
Certainly on LPL web-site in MAY, see: Media Centre*|*Press Releases*|*Peel Airports considers partners at Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Ocean Wun Zero - very good point. The amount of CAS that DSA have is ridiculous bearing in mind the activity there. Every time I fly over it there isn't a single airliner on the ground!
I think you can write to the CAA-DAP at Kingsway, and suggest to them that the CAS is unnecessary, and they will take this comment into account when they review the airspace, which I think they do one year after inception.
They seem to be very open to people's view, so please write if you feel strongly about it. I'll do the same, because the amount of CAS that has appeared around every regional airport within the last 3 or 4 years doesn't seem to be sensible, and DSA's is just an abuse. A Transponder Zone would be far more appropriate in this case, or maybe nothing at all.

There will be three Thomson flights to Dalaman next summer on Monday's, Thursday's and Saturday's, Thomas Cook have their own flight on Wednesday's.

Ryanair back for summer 10
Good to see that Ryanair are coming back for next summer (flights on sale from the end of march), after they pulled out for the winter you had to fear for the worst.
Thats the retention taken care of ,now for some expansion please!

I feared the worst as well. It's been a good day: I can now book my annual week in Barca without having to travel to MAN to get a Monarch at some ungodly hour, and Felix cat food is on special offer at the Co-op.
