Excellent step in direction for Wizz, wonder how long more before market access in Russia (especially), the Ukraine and Turkey is allowed to be accessed by them.

Article and 4 based at IEV
Very interesting article indeed! Looks like Wizz Air did well in 2012. I think 2013 will be another succesful year for them by opening up the markets like Dubai and Israel.
I saw the next delivery for Wizz Air will have a HA-.... (Hungarian) registration, so that one cannot be based at IEV. Will the one after this one get a UR-... reg? I believe all A320's delivered to Wizz Air from now on will have sharklets installed.

they are certainly able to grow
Budapest - Moscow (Regulatory approval received from Hungary - Russia stalling)
Budapest - Istanbul (Regulatory approval received from Hungary - Turkey stalling)
and they have yet to receive approval from the Ukrainian and Russian authorities to open up links between Kiev - St. Petersburg and Moscow. It seems Russia, the Ukraine and Turkey are still in positions to restrict competition for the benefit of the flag carriers.

Yes put haven't Wizz applied for routes for the following routes:
"While they can't get access to every route they want, they are certainly able to grow."
The point is that in Ukraine (and a far far lesser extent Turkey), Wizz Air aren't locked out of the market and are able to add capacity to certain destinations. "Market Access" on a fairly wide range of routes is "allowed to be accessed by them"

Tuzla - Basel
After the recent announcement of the first Wizz Air route from Bosnia-Herzegovina with Malmö-Tuzla, they will add the route Basel-Tuzla from June 15.
WIZZ AIR ANNOUNCES TUZLA – BASEL ROUTE
SECOND LOW FARE ROUTE FROM BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA
Wizz Air, the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe announced today that it will double its low fare capacity at Tuzla Airport with a new route to Basel-Mulhouse starting in 15 June. This development comes one week after low airfares became available to the people of Bosnia Herzegovina for the first time, when Wizz Air announced it will begin operating flights at Tuzla from 31 May with its first route to Malmo. The new Tuzla-Basel route comes in response to the enthusiastic reception shown by consumers in Bosnia Herzegovina who welcomed Wizz Air’s arrival by flocking to wizzair.com and booking flights at very low fares.
Seats on the new Tuzla-Basel route are already on sale and can be booked from today on wizzair.com with our launch fare starting from an incredible €27.99.

The next interesting move by Wizz; new route to a new country already on sale. From BUD to Baku, Azerbaijan, the historical town on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Quite exotic and potentially attractive destination.

Seriously good move by the carrier. The broadening of the network the last few weeks is seriously exciting. IPO can't be too far off after the FY12 performance and projected FY13 performance?

davidjohnson6 - Of course it's very much about it. In addition though, you can find people who already criss-crossed the "routine" destinations in Europe, this one could open up new horizons for them. I just think that in order to better exploit its potential, Wizz should consider the introduction of some connecting flights, at least in BUD and/or somewhere in Poland.
