AAG ??
Asia, American Gateway ?
Association of American Geographers ?
Australian Association of Gerontology ?
No, 0523COVMAN.......Alcoholics Anonymous ! I spend so much time in the Oak waiting for these 'guys' to show that is why I have to go to these meetings.
As for the bull, my Dad gets the occasional Sheep from the local farmer, but then again what he gets up to in his own Garden is none of my business
Not heard a thing today ...been very quiet. Bit more movement over the weekend would go down well.

Not much point speculating now....If DD goes OK then we will get the official version of whats going to happen soon enough...
We can play with that when it happens.

The Swiss did a tour of the Western Area in detail on Thursday and I understand were amazed when they looked in the hangars that "people actually park aircraft in THESE" ?
As 'property developers' they apparently want to develop more peripheral facilities' with an Aviation bias like maintenance etc and possibly redevelop the hangars and offices above them. Wonder if they have asked about planning pemission ! That should stoke up a good old hornets nest !

The Town and Country Planning Act gives airports certain permitted development rights which should cover much of what ADP wish to do. The only thing to check is that these rights have not been surrendered for parts of the airport as part of a previous planning application. I do not know the answer to this but the potential area would be around the Western Apron which is covered bya Section 106 planning agreement as a result of the Parcelforce development (which didn't benefit the airport at all!). Below is where, generally the permitted development rights apply. It does not mention Passenger Terminals which clearly do require planning permission:-
44.—(1) The carrying out on operational land by a relevant airport operator or its agent of development (including the erection or alteration of an operational building) in connection with the provision of services and facilities at a relevant airport.
(2) Development is not permitted by this class if it would consist of or include—
(4) Development falls within this sub-paragraph if—

Has anyone got a definitive comment on when ADP hope or expect the airport to be fully operational again, assuming the DD process is completed satisfactorily? Re ATC, I wasn't aware the Marshalls were now back in the frame - surely this must be a positive sign.

Sorry to hear of your job loss Snakey20. If its possible to answer how many ATC People did work at Cov?
A Positive sign people loosing there jobs surely thats NOT positive. H.W.
If there are 2 less assistants and some have moved on, Thats means if and when Cov does reopen it will open even less hours than it did when it was last operational or maybe they might just open it Sunrise to Sunset And do away with Radar Etc......

Very sad though it is that two assistants have been made redundant, that does not suggest wholesale reductions in hours or service offered. The rumour I heard was that the hours would be similar to previously although there would be a restricted service in the late evening and perhaps a lower capacity ATC service at weekend.
As previously posted on here, it is said that the CAA is inspecting for the license restoration on 17th February so hopefully full opening might not be too far away.

I would guess that the license application would be part of DD. If for some reason a license was not granted or had restrictions then the deal may be scuppered. I'm not suggesting for one minute that it would be refused.

James Plaskitt Labour MP for Warwick and Leamington quote:
"Warned prospective new Swiss bosses ADP they would face the same problems as the former owners". Plakitt went on to say "Any renewed attempt to introduce passenger jets would not get planning permission".

Jeremy Wright (Whereas) I am always pleased to see redundancies avoided, but I remain doubtful that the business plan of the potential operators of Coventry Airport will be any more successful than that of the previous operators. More generally, I am not persuaded of the desirability of an airport at Coventry given the proximity of Birmingham Airport. The Coventry Airport site was certainly an unsuitable base for large passenger aircraft.
I written back to him contesting his views, but as I will now fall outside his constituency I fear that my views will be placed in file 13.

NJTCF,
Notwithstanding the loss of the two ATCA positions, the fact that Marshalls are once again being linked with the airfield IS surely a postive sign in the great scheme of things.

I should imagine around 16 controllers perhaps and with two assistants gone that will leave around 6 or 7?
Im sure if there are assistants gone then unfortunatly controllers will go as well, or some may have already found jobs elsewhere with coventry up in arms they may have been left with no choice.
