NATS have nothing to do with the re-licensing of a airport unless they are the contractor supplying the ATC team.

Still no news? When will it open?

See the Pope's pulled out of doing his rave at CVT - bang goes the business plan - all that money from ice cream and hot dog sales would have been useful.

Still no news on when it may open? ATC team now in place?

Pope

Not with that bunch either, but it seems that they're moving it to New Oscott Birmingham as a do for 10,000, instead of the 200,000+ who were going to Coventry. Think that it was in the Independent. Wouldn't like to try the Chester Road on that day!

Change of venue for the Pope has not been announced but there seem to be a number of strategic leaks to prepare the ground. If it does move, I think it would be good news for the airport operationally. The last thing they need is further disruption as hopefully, by then, everything will be up and running.

Definitely announced yesterday was that up to 10 matches from the 2012 Olympics football competition will be played in Coventry. Could give the airport a boost when that arrives.

A move away would be good.....I don't think the infrastructure could have coped anyway....Traffic is a lot worse than it was last time he popped (or Poped) in....
Are CVT advertising any jobs yet?

Still no ATC team at Cov......
Serco did advertise for controllers on thier website tho with a closing date of last week, so maybe things are moving ahead slowly
just think though if the council had not been gready and gone with Sir P back in Dec 2009!!!
makes you think this thread would be long dead

on a possitive note at least things appear to be moving forward allbeit very slowly, fell for those who lost thier jobs and are still without anything,

The BBC News website thinks so too:-

"The Pope's planned papal visit to Coventry is going ahead as planned, the Archdiocese of Birmingham has stressed.
Some reports had suggested that an open-air Mass at the city's airport may be scrapped and a smaller event be held near Birmingham instead.
But an archdiocese spokesman said that is not the case.
Pope Benedict XVI will travel to Coventry airport for the beatification of Cardinal John Henry Newman, a convert to Catholicism."

Oh ! No it's not !

Latest news re. the Pope is that no one has decided yet.

They are currently deciding between Longbridge and CVT. This info from a radio interview on BBC WM between presenter Ed Doolan and the Editor of 'The Tablet' , a Catholic newspaper.

Anyway let's hope CVT get their ATC up and running fairly soon.

Good luck to all the boys & girls at Coventry

So who has paid £4m up front? Prove it.

Whilst I've no doubt that Serco may have got the contract, I suspect you are talking bollocks regarding the money changing hands.

No,it definately says £4m.

Besides which, I know that Serco would not part with £4 never mind £4m, in one go unless they were guaranteed twice the return. it's business simples my dear chap.

Bollock r u.

My dear Niknak, I fear that you have rather lost the plot. You even seem to think that it is SERCo who are paying the £4M to Patriot Aerospace! I'm sure that you will feel better after a good night's sleep.

Wink

Please play nicely guys! It is a rumour network, evidence isn't obligatory!

Has anyone heard when the landing fees / ATC / parking fees for cars start?
