Does anyone know how Coventry is doing now? Seen a fair few visiting light aircraft passing through in recent weeks, and a few more business aircraft beginning to use the Airport, and ideas of freight flights commencing?

A mate who manages several exec' aircraft on behalf of owners, used Cov and Brum to more or less equal measure prior to the closure, but now is being offered "extremely competitive terms" to continue operating into Brum.
The clients businesses are equidistant from either airport so they don't mind where they land and take off from, but if Birmingham are offering better terms to my colleague he won't be the only one they're targeting.
The marketing people at Coventry better get their fingers out!

I've seen some of the terms they're offering to base jets there. They didn't strike me as being that competitive to be honest - especially if they are out to attract new business.

A bold post for a Probationary Ppruner.
The Airport Tenants meeting was recently told that airport hours will be extended during 2011. So what "fact" do you have to show this will not happen?
It is also true that "never" is a long time and circumstances do change in ways we cannot predict.

Grass at Coventry
Sorry to say once again as I have been saying for the last 18 months
Regretfully Coventry has had its Hey Day Its regretable but the way the economy is at the moment it cannot justify 2 Airports son near to each other.
Many attempts as I have said in the past have been tried without sucess.
There is only so long you can put money into a sinking ship
Coventry has been sinking slowly and regretfully it must sink shortly
I will be be sorry to see it go but have to face realality

Apart from the economy...which will change, what is preventing CVT offering lower charges to carriers than BHX and EMA and getting up a low cost scheduled service ?.

I doubt that CVT are seriously pursuing charter services. That's not to say they won't accept one if they are approached.
Offering to do something for less than it costs has been the downfall in the past. They should play to their strengths...If you want to see big aeroplanes take the 15 minute drive up the road.
You won't see that many new ones there either...Kind of points to the problems in aviation in general. Not that much business knocking about at present...
