Its completely closed. The only aircraft flying out of it are based ones flying with no-fire cover most of the time and treating it as though it is a 'field' with permission of the landowner (the council). There is occasionally a 737 going in for Atlantic but again they are cargo only and actually only ever position into coventry never carrying their cargo, they do however hire some ex-coventry fireman to come in and provide some level of fire cover for them. But no you couldn't land a passenger flight there at the moment.

There is currently a promotion on local radio for pleasure flights in the Dragon Rapides this weekend which I thought had been positioned away from Coventry some time ago. So quite how that squares with the following, I do not know.

I think Classic Flight are operating out of Wellesbourne until the Coventry situation is sorted.

All Classic Flight aircraft are still at CVT,apart from a couple of the jets which are away for maintenance.
The pleasure flights were to have taken place at Wellesbourne this weekend, but have now been cancelled.

Thanks for that, up until about five pm today, (when I switched off) the radio station were still offering a prize of a trip from Coventry. Perhaps they hadn't caught up.

If the prize was a flight from CVT,there would be no reason why it couldn't be done once the airport opens, which brings us back on topic!

I don't suppose the present aviation losses will help the situation. The longer this goes on the worse the prognosis....Due diligence must have finished a while back even with the extension...

I SAY ONCE AGAIN

Regretfully EGBE will close for ever Its now been too long too many people have left too many companies fed up with the internal working of a Council that dont want the Airport.

REDROW 1 Clear to Land behind the Bulldozer/JCB s

I Can get you discount on a New Home at EGBE if you are that concerned

Sorry for all the Hard working people that have for so long tried to save EGBE but we have to face the fact it will not re open

Can the training organisations get back to training now the ANO/RotA have changed or are there barriers in the way of that? If they could, it might help their situation, and ultimately that of the airport.

When Coventry Airport was fighting its planning battles, one of the tactics of the opponents was to repeat totally untrue "Facts" at every opportunity, apparently in the belief that if you say something often enough it will believed to to true.
Now it seems some bloke in Crawley is trying the tactics again on here. Learjet 50 is incorrect in saying that Coventry Council do not support the airport. Sir Peter told the tenants meeting that they had been tremendously supportive. (The problem is with Warwick DC who are the planning authority). LJ50 also talks about the companies that have left - other than Atlantic Flight Training, perhaps, it would be interesting to know who he thinks they are.
Whether with Sir Peter or someone else, Coventry Airport will re-open

At least with the Airport closed at the moment the huge losses that have been incurred by other airports during this bizzar time have been avoided. However now that the skies are reopening so to speak, surely its time for the warring parties to act like grown ups and not politicians.
Lets get cov up and running again, there will be less disruption with it as an airport than a gravel pit! come on you nimby's think on that 50-100 40tonne trucks rumbling past your front door 24-7! and what abot all that extra congestion on the rounderbouts !
hmmm !!!!!

leofric and flyingbricksh
You seem to have a lot of pent up agression towards members of the public who only used their legal right to participate in the planning process a few years back. The objections of nimbies, to planning applications several years ago, are hardly relevant any more, and if they only were nimby objections would not have held any merit with planning inspector, high court etc. They are certainly not the current cause of the airport's difficulties, which lets face it are down to two things - money - or lack of it - and poor management

The airport can be back up and running anytime, if you can find someone willing to kiss goodbye to several million pounds

Leofric You also seem to think Warwick District council are now the problem because they are the planning authority. Please explain that one for me. As far as I know, the airport has no current planning applications, so i fail to see the relevance.

Still believing in Father Christmas then Chugaboom?

You should rely more on nav3's constantly incorrect posts for comforting news from his CCC binman when he collects his rubbish on Thursdays. You know what they say about computing, rubbish in, rubbish out.

At least some are consistent on here, just some consistently wrong, and others well, wouldn't like to say.

The airport has been closed nearly 5 months now, and how many times have we been told that a deal is imminent and it's about to open?

Supposed to be fully operational by 18th January, and several times since then according to the guesswork from supposed insiders on here.

Doubting the veracity of these posts gernerally leads to personal insults, but despite all these my hat remains uneaten.

Ifyou can spot one post from me on this subject that is wide of the mark, then please point it out.

Despite that I think that it will open soon under Peter Rigby, but the current tenants and customers may not be entirely happy with his approach or plans.
