Yes it is down from daily which it has been since time immemorial, one less flight a week part of a few European cuts over the winter. Not doing too badly if it still has more frequency than EWR-BHX and EWR-LIS both have! UNITED W13 European Operation Changes as of 31AUG13 | Airline Route ? Worldwide Airline Route Updates

August 2013 growth

August 2013 was the third consecutive month of growth in passenger numbers for SNN. The airport saw a 3% growth in numbers relative to August 2012.

For more details, see the airport's news section:

Transatlantic up by 35%, no figures released for Europe, and the U.K. I wonder why?

SNN-LGW

Seems (from their website) that Ryanair's SNN-LGW is being cut back to 5 flights from 7 from mid-Jan 2014. No Tues or Thurs. Any knowledge on this?

Was to be expected, FR said they would be taking excess capacity out this winter.

Loss of the Thursday rotation is irritating - I've never seen it less than almost full as people are travelling in both directions for long weekend or after a compressed working week. Yields can't be disastrous either because the special fare deals are very hard to pin down on this route on a Thursday. There's a strong demand for south of London to SNN and FR used to do well with their double daily timetable before they fell out with the then Shannon DAA. EI came on the route but with a ludicrously early morning rotation, operating the wrong way round from LGW, and we sometimes outnumbered the crew; it was no surprise when the route was culled at the earliest opportunity.

Good to hear. Interesting to see what way numbers go over the next 4-5 months.

Also good to see the VAT rate for tourism etc kept at 9% for next year and also the travel tax is gone from April 1st. Will help all airports i think.

REI is operating the 3608 this evening with a change in MAN to REM for the 3609. REM is then positioning to DUB and CPT / ATR-42 is positioning down to SNN for a few days.

During the summer they used a mix of AT42/AT72 depending in the day of the week.
Tue Wed Thurs AT42
Fri Sat Sun Mon AT72

It may have been Mon -Thurs so am open to correction.

I think it will be a AT42 again for the Winter (1 CC less).

looks like CPT ATR42 is positioning back to DUB tomorrow night after the 3609 and REI ATR72 will be positioning to SNN again for the 3600 on Thursday morning.

Being described as a "major press announcement" in the email I just saw from Shannon Airport. Guess we'll find out at 10am.

Just how long before EIR pull out will be the next question as it will only be a matter of time before FR move in on their routes.
