Most flights arriving (domestic obviously) use the walkway back to the main terminal though - so surely BA would do the same?

From my understanding Ryanair have made an 80% move down to the pier as it is better for a 25 min turnaround. We'll see whether BA can push them out....I doubt it seeing as FR are the only airline brining new business to EDI this year.

No news whatsoever from Emirates on any Scottish expansion at all. Personally I can't see anything new for Scotland for a couple of years, not until the economic situation dramatically improves.
EDI-DOH with Qatar Airways seems to be a stronger possibility than EK to DXB, if mutterings are to be believed.

Monarch are basing an A321 at EDI from Monday to Thursday. I Believe it then positions to Dublin for the remainder of the week after the Arrecife flight in the early hours of Friday morning.
Hope this helps

EDI Emirates & Delta
The rumour about the Emirates - EDI dubai service was based on speculation that the the EDI market would support enough business class pax to justify EDI and GLA services.
As I recall, this was at a time when the Scottish Government's route development fund was still available ( Don't know current status). Given that Edinburgh and Glasgow are only 50 miles apart I doubt whether there is scope for both services.
It is sad but, not unsurprising, that Delta are to quit later in the year but, again, this service was highly dependent on the business community and with tight margins and aggressive pricing by the hub operators I can understand that Delta will be struggling to get the numbers they need. the $/£ exchange rate hasn't helped and I hope that the September cut off will give them enough the inbound summer trade in to encourage them to try again in the future.
The old addage, use it or lose it, never seems to be heeded North of the border. I still see many pax preferring to interline via Heathrow or Schiphol to save a few pounds. Many of them end up routing right back over Scotland to reach their final destination - but a couple of hours later!
I have only been able to use the Delta service a couple of times and it is remarkable the difference in arriving home without having the wait for baggage and an interconnecting flight. Hopefully, when th economy improves we will se more long haul out of both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

A bit of advertising may have helped the situation, something that Delta has done very little of. If you do not tell potential customers of your product and services how do you expect them to know about it and therefore use it ?
Got to agree whole heartedly, there's nothing worse than having to arrive at your home airport four to five hours before you will fly over it again out bound and flying over it three or so hours (if you're lucky) before you get back to it.
The original Delta service to ATL was superb, but even the flightcrews admitted that there was absolutlely no advertising of it in the US outside of the news section on the Delta website. The only advertising I ever saw for it in the UK was a couple of billboard adverts went up the week after they announced the cancellation of the service, and one of those was on the billboard opposite the airport gate guardian.
Oh well, I guess that it'll be Conti or Conti from now on until we get a decent sized international section capable of taking three or four wide body jets at a time.

Have heard a rumour that Qatar are seriously looking at EDI as one of their two new European points to be launched this year - anybody heard the same? Some think they are BHX bound but with EK having now upgraded both daily flights to 77W from there maybe they are thinking EDI a better bet......
