I would be very surprised if they kept Glasgow and only that route. I'd say there will be more loaded before too long. I'd be amazed if there wasn't another carrier for a London route at the very least if Ryanair dropped Stansted.

Well to be fair, you can't really move forward a preplanned press release easily in some circumstances.
And also it should help the Aiport if its in the news alot. All publicity is good publicity.

A pinch of salt may need to be taken but rumours elsewhere in Northwest tonight that the new route may actually be a connecting flight to Shannon....
Surely they can do better than that.

If its a connection for a Sun Route, I thought they were done away with ages ago?
A connection in Shannon only makes sence in my head for Transatlantic, which obviously seems a bit absurd if Derry can't even hold onto most it's routes.

Seriously, it's obviously a slow news day in the Derry area. A blind man in a galloping horse could see that the airport is losing a fortune, unless they can build passenger numbers to close to 1m, profit is not going to happen. They'd need to replicate the sort of success that Knock airport has achieved.....

As for the route in question nothing to get excited about as it's your typical bucket and spade destination and will have a short season but guess every little helps in terms of numbers.

Any good news is big news for Derry. Especially when it comes from someone other than the monopoly airline.
I haven't heard a thing about it, don't know why.
Will be interesting to see if Ryanair react to this.

EI-BUD. If it bores you, then don't read the forum, let alone comment on it. The ENTIRE point of the recent posts regards the latest information on CoDA. If that bores you, go back to your poorly worded attempts at clever essays on either of the Belfast threads. In the meantime, don't let the truth get in the way of an opinion......
An INDEPENDENT study shows the GVA for the NW of NI from the airport is £15.4m. Three times the subvention. If only there was a once a day flight to New York which we could get Stormont to blow MORE than the cost of the yearly subvention on.....
