Really big blow, guess FlyBe will surly operate a London service?

Wonder if EI still had the LGW base would they of given it a try considering NOC does rather well.

As for bucket and spade with conventional bases for Jet 2 pooping up could they consider it especially if they start losing some traffic to FR at BFS in the future.

Sad at Faro news, used it 4 times in last 5 years and each time the flight was rammed.

Stansted is a real surprise, also used that many time over the years. I think this is really stage 1 of the Ryanair withdrawal from the airport.

Stansted is seeing large cuts by FR. A lot of the routes from there to the island of Ireland have seen reductions.

John Kelpie, the airport manager, has just been on Newsline and seems bullish that a replacement will start in April next year operating 2-3 times daily. Whilst the loss of a route that's been at the airport since 1999 is sad indeed, if it means we get rid of the monopoly of FR and instead have a more frequent, usable service, then today could actually be good news.

EZY could do STN, LTN or LGW, BE could do LCY, EI to LGW. Can't think of any others.

Well, look at the current situation on the BFS-LGW route. Would EZY, with benefit of a route development fund (as is being speculated) move a few rotations a day up the road? Long shot maybe. My guess would be EIR, perhaps to Stansted. As for others, BE operate Dundee to STN, so a replication of that sort of route could be on the cards.

It seems that the airport were expecting this, and have been working on something in the meantime.

Maybe flybe could base and aircraft there? Start even Stn or LTN I can't seem them going to Lcy from LDY but I could be wrong
My money is on be or eir. Be have done well at other airports which help them financially
Maybe 2-3 London routes and a daily MAN it is their hub and have many code shares

Does anyone know why the outbound Liverpool flight last Saturday morning was delayed by almost 4 hours?

This was a tech issue. Had to wait for the engineers to be flown over from STN.

John Kelpie, Derry and Strabane Council CEO, on Radio Foyle earlier stating that likely N.Ireland Executive will announce a multi million £££ package for City of Derry Airport in the coming days and that he is confident come next April the airport will have at least a 2 times possibly 3 times daily service to a London airport.

i would say flybe is the front runner. the airport are dying to get a birmingham service also.

given flybe's stagnant position it might be a nice earner for them

I wonder who has the spare metal to utilise at LDY? Do EZY or BE have a few extra just lying around?
Could we even see LS try STN-LDY with their upcoming expansion plans there?

Jet2 would certainly be the curveball in all of this.
